Bombnation
Crossovered with Rage
September 2010
Released: 2010, Self-released
Rating: 3.5/5
Reviewer: Luxi Lahtinen

Quebec-based crossover thrashers Bombnation have finally got their 2nd album out, titled CROSSOVERED WITH RAGE, featuring 13 new cuts. This same album has also been released as a split LP together with US thrashcore act Blunt Force Trauma (not to be confused with US death metallers with the same name) on Doomsday Machine Records, but with 3 songs less.

Back to the band´s 2nd album now though. Well, to be honest not much has changed musically here since they put out their debut album H.A.Z.M.A.T. Bombnation´s punk-ish/hardcore-ish thrash is still as relentless and wild as it already appeared to be on their debut - kicking especially the butts of DxRxIx, Sacrilige B.C., Municipal Waste, early Slayer and Crumbsuckers fans, in a satisfying and efficient way. The band blasts out 13 songs in less than half an hour, making no excuses for the purpose of their existence - and just raging around like a hungry wolf after a frightened flock of sheep. What is so great about Bombnation is that there´s a good live feel involved within their punishing and fast-paced thrashcore; sounding like a band that can pull off an entertaining live show and conjure up a mosh pit that easily goes on 24/7.

Songs that range from 1:17 minutes (at its shortest) to 3:40 minutes (at the longest) pretty much tell already that the band doesn´t want to waste their time on the slow lane, but rather use the maximum capacity of their engine, pushing the pedal-to-the-metal. It´s easy to like them due to all the immeasurable energy and aggression they can produce through their ´thrashing-like-a-maniac´ type of songs. They are true pros of their own game; a game that does not leave too many survivors behind.

It´s hard to resist liking Bombnation. Just grab their releases for yourself and you will certainly find out why.
