Bloody Donation
Vengeance Of The Enslaved
May 2014
Released: 2013, Roar Records
Rating: 4.0/5
Reviewer: Helias Papadopoulos

The recent years Greek death metal scene is getting bigger and bigger with sick death metal acts like Mass Infection, Acid death and now Bloody Donation, one of the most shining beacons in the country’s fast growing death metal scene, rattles the teeth right out of your face with their killer death metal debut album, VENGEANCE OF THE ENSLAVED.

VENGEANCE OF THE ENSLAVED is definitely a great piece of death metal slap. In-your-face death metal like the great early days of Malevolent Creation and Bolt Thrower. A brazenly raw bombardment of dark, tar-thick bass riffing, battering drum work and heavy, noise-strewn, distortion meant to be played at strategically loud volumes, Blood Donation made their own death metal sign in the death-y map.

This record is purely a calculated piece of extreme art, with strong musicianship and a production job skillfully left just on the right side of raw and dirty. Without any fancy crap and using of Pro-Tools or special audio effects, Bloody Donation offers unsparingly ceaseless brutality will do much more than just rip your head off... from start to finish it tears you limb from limb.

Gratuitously filled to the brim with churning riffs, relentless blastbeats and that sort of dusty and cobwebbed sound and atmosphere that you get from listening to the classic material of bands like Malevolent Creation, Suffocation and Slayer (in parts).

Songs like ‘To The Gallows’ with the incredible breakdown 02:25, ‘No Gods, No Saviour’, a song that many distinctive and big death metal bands would envy, and the groove of ‘Excessive Bleeding’ that brings to mind Six Feet Under, Bloody Donation’s VENGEANCE OF THE ENSLAVED gives a distinctly disturbing and beautifully harsh lesson in brutality.
