Bloodred
The Lost Ones

I’ve always been a fan of music that is short and fast and makes you want to hear more. And that certainly was the case when I came across the new German outfit Bloodred and its first EP THE LOST ONES.

Ron Merz, the man behind this one-man-band is certainly a talented instrumentalist and vocalist. ‘The Lost Ones’ track opens with riffs reminding me of Flayed Disciple and Bloodshot Dawn, and his vocals were certainly similar to Legion from Marduk.

‘Spirits of the Dead’ had a more buzzsaw sound of the guitar but then started showcasing hints of melodic death metal and I felt this is what you’d get if Gormathon and Skeletonwitch were practising in the same room. This had European metal written all over it and was very well researched.

Anyone into the European Death and Black Metal scenes will enjoy this album for how one man was able to fit so much into just two songs. I look forward to hearing more from Bloodred too.
