Blodhemn
H7
February 2015
Released: Nov , Indie Recordings
Rating: 4.5/5
Reviewer: Metal-Rules.com UK Team

Blodhemn is the seasoned black metal project of solo musician and vocalist Invisus. Hailing from

Norway - birthplace of black metal, Blodhemn comes with a high expectation of quality and excels

far above expectation with sophomore effort H7.

If you're a Black metal fan, you probably have heard or own a few albums that Indie Recordings

has put out. 1349, Satyricon, Aura Noir, Kvelertak - this label doesn't put out shit. Only

the cream of the genre crop and the same goes with Blodhemn with H7. What we have here are 7

polished, well written and well performed head smashing black metal tracks.

Much like the bands mentioned above, Blodhemn use influences from other genres to make great tracks.

It's black metal for sure but there's noticeable nods to punk and thrash metal spattered across

the album's duration. Tracks like Evig Heder have a real NWOBHM and thrash vibe because it's so guitar

orientated with hugely memorable riffs, whilst always maintaining the black metal furiousity.

Other tracks such as Andenes Ansikt and the fantastic Fandesvenn are a little more towards the

traditional black metal ballpark without ever being cliche or boring.

Overall, H7 is a great achievement by a band who will likely gain much more recognition in the coming

year or two. Invisus' instrument work, especially the guitar playing, and majestic song writing

make H7 one of the stand out black metal releases of 2014 for me. Certainly up there with albums

put out by the bigger names on the Indie label.
