Formed in Brighton, England in 1995, Balance of Power have hit the mark with their latest release, PERFECT BALANCE. The album provides the perfect mixture of progressive, power and melodic metal all in one. It contains 9 tracks which brings to mind Stratovarious, Dream Theatre and a heavy dose of Queensryche. "Fire Dance" sounds like Queensryche at their prime while "Shelter Me" brings Dream Theatre to mind. Fans of Crimson Glory will favor "Fire Dance" but my fav would be "One Voice" featuring some nice double-kick work and a big chorus that sticks in your head all day. The highlight of Balance of Power is the voice of Lance King, sounding an awful lot like Geoff Tate in his prime and Michael Kiske in his Helloween days. Not the most original, but guaranteed to get more spins than the last Queensryche opus.
