The Iliad, Odyssey and a true ancient Greek Spirit are the well-blended ingredients for the second outfit by Greek artillery crew, Bewized. Greek metal scene hasn’t got any much of a tradition in metalcore, but this is a nice piece of try as the mythological themes in metalcore are not used often. The album begins with the thunderous riff of ‘War I wage’, a song made of the mosh pit. The one of the most interesting songs of this record is the second one ‘Medusa Head’ with the intrigued melody behind the lead guitars.
From the outset, it’s clear that the band self-consicously tried to replicate the strategy employed on albums by Killswitch Engage and Trivium. Bewized’s musical style is a combined sound from extreme metal and hardcore sounding modern and vocally combination of singing, screaming vocals, growls in every single song of the album.
UNDEAD LEGACY boasts a good deal of riffs and solos, Both the dueling vocals and twin guitars from Theotokis and Georgiadis are in fine form throughout the entire album. It is patently obvious that Bewized has made a determined effort to make every song on this record as memorable as possible. Along with the two mentioned songs, I would point out the band achieves this best on ‘Heart Bled Dry’, where Björn "Speed" Strid from Soilwork features.
Indeed, the band does sound somewhat “radio-friendly” and “mainstream” in their efforts to construct such catchy melodies and leads, but the groovy result is amazing. UNDEAD LEGACY is a great piece of work and a worth buying album. And yes, to the untrained ear they do sound like the foresaid bands. But if you like those bands, chances are you will probably enjoy UNDEAD LEGACY too.
