AC/DC
Stiff Upper Lip
April 2000
Released: 2000, n/a
Rating: 4.0/5
Reviewer: Pete

You gotta hand it to AC/DC. They're like a fine wine that ages well. No suprises,, just straight-ahead rock-n-roll. Sure, you heard it all before, but that's the great thing about AC/DC: No grunge, no rap, or alternabullshit, not here.

Produced by George Young, Stiff Upper Lip heralds back to the days of Highway To Hell, as the track "Safe In NYC" proves, reminding one of "Walk All Over You." Actually, on repeated listens, you can pick up elements found in their extensive catalogue of classics. The album is not overly polished, as compared to say "The Razors Edge." Some fans have bitched about this, but I find it adds a little bit more spontaneity. Fave tracks include "Hold Me Back", "Melt down", Stiff Upper Lip', & "Safe In NYC.' Only two filler tracks: The plodding "Damned", and the paint-by-number-structured "You Can't Stop Rock-N-Roll.", MR. Johnson & the brothers Young, may be showing their age (Have you seen these guys lately???) but prove they still have what it takes. Overall a strong album and it's always great to hear the thunder downunder.
