Spanish death metallers Avulsed are back and they unleashed their chaotic beast named RITUAL ZOMBI which contains 13 aural assaults full of cohesive energy that will be welcomed by fans with open ears.
Securely in the death metal genre with fast, expansive riffs and blast choruses, Avulsed make a technology of old school riffing modified into death metal structures in the featureless and abstract landscape of the style. There is nothing dramatically new; but it does not matter much. Both beauty and pure flaw combine to make this release irksome, tempting and intriguing. Zealously rudimentary and violent death metal forms its essential ideals within the space of raw thunderous power chords in architectural assembly of connective phrasing concluding in arduous, tense, nihilistic and gore tonal acclimatization through mood manipulating atmosphere in chromatic, shuddering conclusive riffing.
The cerebral nature of this album does not balance the frenetic, leaving a rough and somewhat epileptic view of existence that is surprisingly similar to the balance of beauty and corruption in life. With a handful of pounding riffs and an ongoing line of heavily creative supporting composition, this music does not fail to deliver a mentally-stimulating experience of death metal intensity.
The exceptional nature of this creature is the overall rhythmic comprehension of each song, as riffs meld into one another and emerge recreated, forging new streams of energy which collide and batter each other in driving blast beats under a voracious vocal scream. There are rhythms of the motion of violent life, of cataclysmic conflict and destruction, which drives this music to its own authenticity of logic and reason.
RITUAL ZOMBI is a very good album. Multidimensional, technical and particularly "contagious", will delight all their fans, keeping them awake, as is also the last twenty years. We do so with a very solid death metal album, that when using slow and fast speeds, it will not let you catch your breath. Killing songs fully of technique, full rage, hatred and tension from people who never complacent and are not at peace, not consumed or regurgitate the past, do not turn back and not enjoy the fame or sales sacrificing something of themselves who comes out through music. All of theses characteristics appear in RITUAL ZOMBI, which reminds us a Death song, and also, there is a cover in ‘Zombie Ritual’ by Death. By this album, Avulsed pay their honor to the American deathsters. This album simply kills.
