Aura Noir
Increased Damnation
November 2001
Released: 2001, HammerHeart Records
Rating: 3.7/5
Reviewer: El Cid

This CD is pure and raw old school thrash metal! Increased Damnation is highly reminiscent of a thrashier version of Venom mixed with a twist of Motorhead. The thing that makes this a great release is the fact that we’re listening to a “super-group” whose members contributed to bands like Dodheimsgard, Darkthrone and even Mayhem among some others.

The music is pure thrash metal, fast paced yet basic structures, crunchy leads and raspy vocals, it is all here. The tracks are a number of rare/live songs of which tracks 9-14 stand out since they belong to Aurora Noir’s debut album. In all the album is pretty tight and thrash metal fans will enjoy it greatly. The only minor downside I see to it is that since the recordings are from different time periods, the production and sound quality varies from track to track. I don’t know if this was the best way to introduce the band to a new audience, but I wouldn’t mind getting a full-length album with good production by these guys.
