Blood Carnival
February 2014
Released: 2013, Independant
Rating: 3.0/5
Reviewer: UK Team

As soon as the intro track kicked in from these metal heads from Southern Spain it is obvious why they have called this the 'Blood Carnival' The track builds with a strange eerines that builds before fading out and into the 1st track which starts off with a slower riff that soon kicks into some full in your face speed thrash. The riffs are good and the drums are fast but throughout the song you cant quite help but feel that something is missing.

The production just isn't quite there. Which when a band is this fast and technical it really needs that clarity to hold it all together. The vocals are very remeniscent of Six Feet Under and have the same raw guttaral quality.

Despite the fact that it is hard to distinguish the riffs and drums due to the recording there are glimpses of something special where the riff breaks and drops into a slower break that has a bit of groove to it.

The last song 'MOSH' deleivers more of the same and I cant help but feel this is a band that are held back by their ambition to play as fast as possible as the bits where they slow the tempo down just a bit are clearer and have potential.

If 'APONTOKATION' spent a little more time honing their sound and working on some good quality recordings, I can see their potential as just an old school thrash band with a little bit of Cannibal Corpse and a lot of Suiciidal Angels thrown in the mix really coming to the top.
