Auriga
S/T
November 2001
Released: 2001, Auriga Records Rating: 3.0/5 Reviewer: Pete With roots dating back as far as '89, Costa Rica's Auriga have released their first full album. What do the sound like?? From the power metallish opener 'Indian Story", to the Iced Earth riffing in 'The Legend', I'd say Auriga are well steeped in the school of power metal. At times they have a dark sound, whether it's the vocal styling of guitarist/vocalist Javier Fernandez or the production I can't really pinpoint. Of particular note is the epic "Living On A Cloud", an adventurous track that clocks in at 11:50. "Living ...." sounds like early Sanctuary (pre-Nevermore), a definite nod to old school. A strong effort for their first full length outing. Expect much more from this band from Costa Rica, as Auriga have already started work on their next album for a 2002 release and have their sites set on a double concept album for 2003!
