Badwill Ambassadors
July 2005
Released: 2005, TKO Records
Rating: 1.0/5
Reviewer: Lord of the Wasteland

Four-on-the-floor southern rock, hardcore and punk get melded with some bizarre recurring wrestling theme on Antiseen’s new CD, BADWILL AMBASSADORS. These guys make bands like GWAR and Nashville Pussy sound like musical virtuosos as the three-chord rock riffs are fired off at breakneck pacing. The seventeen tracks on BADWILL AMBASSADORS are short and to the point for those with short attention spans and the whole she-bang wraps up in 36 minutes. The simplicity of these songs coupled with the wrestling theme should have the white trash/monster truck crowd drooling (more than they already do) all over the front of their “Stone Cold” Steve Austin t-shirts.

Whoever “Thee Cosmic Commander of Wrestling” is should be shot—plain and simple. I have never been so annoyed by a voice on CD as this guy who pops up for an interlude here and there on BADWILL AMBASSADORS. Beyond silly and pointless, these pieces are obviously done with tongue-in-cheek and tracks like “Dear Abby” (an ode to Abdullah The Butcher), “The Devil Meets The Longhaired Weirdo” and “Ten Pounds of Shit In A Five Pound Bag” show that Antiseen don’t exactly take themselves seriously but things get to the point of questioning whether this is a rock album with comedy pieces or a comedy album with rock music. I’m still not sure which it is.

I suppose Antiseen must have an audience somewhere but who their target demographic is is beyond me. They love their wrestling, their redneck attitude and garage band jam music but who is going to shell out $15 for their CD?
