Progressive, highly complex and extreme Death Metal from San Francisco, California. Somehow one may expect something else coming from that area (read = Thrash), but not anything related to ´progressive & extreme Death Metal´.
Anomalous, this 3-piece destructive Death Metal tornado comes from the area of legendary Thrash Metal, and we could talk about a damn devastating, all-mangling Death Metal tornado here. Tim, Max and Nate, the three fellows behind Anamalous, obviously are quite talented noise makers. They sound like some sort of a disturbed bastard child of such death mongers as Necrophagist, Fear Factory, Cannibal Corpse, Nile and even Rotten Sound here and there in small doses. They didn´t have a real drummer while they were recording the songs for this EP, so they programmed the drums instead.
While the music comes across very ripping, brutal, extremely punishing, highly technical and complex, and nearly chaotic even at some places through the 5 songs they have managed to feature for COGNITIVE DISSONANCE, the programmed drums surely help to add this certain machine-like feeling and coldness into this extremely brutal and tightly churned out wholeness. They have a way making of sure listeners get what they deserve: A severe yet very rewarding soniferous punishment courtesy of Anamalous (assuming you like everything from Necrophagist to Rotten Sound?). Songs like “Cognitive Dissonance” and “Subliminal Servitude” offer the real deal. Be destroyed or survive!
