A young thrash metal act from Vantaa, Finland – ArchiTorture (ex-Treachery), approached me just lately with their brand-new 5-track EP out, titled THRASHING THROUGH YOUR MIND. As the title of this EP already tells everyone loud and clear, the name of their game is just… erm, ´thrashing through your mind´. :oD



ArchiTorture´s advantage it´s gotta be said is that they're still very young guys and yet they sound kinda impressive when simply analyzing their song structures on the EP. They have got lots of good ideas absorbed into their songs. This stuff is very honest, straightforward and aggressive thrash metal with a good amount of variation, tempo changes, a necessary amount of melodies, killer solos and stuff – and a good production only increases this EP´s true enjoyment level even higher. I am especially happy about the fact that the bass´ sound is so audible in the songs of this very EP – so is the sound of snare drum that actually could have been a bit lower in the final mix.



Vocalist and bassist Petri sounds like a crossbreed of Chris Zenk of German Minotaur and Tony Noel of the Australian cult thrashers Slaughter Lord, with his raspy and throaty vocals that overall fit to the band´s old-school thrash approach surprisingly well in my opinion.



It´s no denying that the stuff what ArchiTorture do, has probably been recycled countless of times before, but it really does not matter as long as it´s so well and carefully done as ArchiTorture have done it on this fully enjoyable EP of theirs. They know it already themselves that they are not here to re-invent the steel again – yet they also seem to know to choose the right weapons for thrashing through our minds. It worked for me anyway and bet it will work for others as well.



Good, honest and old-fashioned thrash stuff here – and absolutely recommended for any speed freaks and thrash bangers in every corner on this planet.
