Anaal Nathrakh
November 2014
Released: 2014, Metal Blade Records
Rating: 4.0/5
Reviewer: Helias Papadopoulos

Anaal Nathrakh is a very special band as they are not an ordinary touring band and they never intended to take the band to the stage. Anaal Nathrakh are one of the favorite bands of fans of extreme sound. Consistent record in regular appointments with their fans and continue undaunted to offer us moments of merciless pounding music. The Anaal Nathrakh not attempt to offer something innovative or at least something different compared to the past, not interested also. What they do is engage in furious, extreme metal pandemonium.

All the songs are furious, fast, groovy, black metal, deathy, grindcore and grindgore (if you wish) and vitriol-ised. I do like the very special clean vocals in parts without being a goddamn metalcor-ised stuff. There is always a psychopathy all over the songs as the bans usually is out of mind. Listen to “A Monstrum In Animo” (you can be aware of the track’s title) and “The One Thing Needful”.

The pace is relentless and overwhelming for the most part of the album, while certainly not lacking the necessary breaks which cut this rate. V.I.T.R.I.O.L. gives again a recital with the hideous, nightmarish and tearing screams, while the clean vocals emerge from the sonic chaos created by Anaal Nathrakh. I think this time Anaal Nathrakh are more industrial than ever.

I would say that the DESIDERATUM is a very good album of uncompromising extreme metal, which has all the characteristics we love Anaal Nathrakh for. There will be an icon but retains the British high in the minds of their followers. Anaal Nathrakh can give you what is lacked or needed (desideratum). They do deserve all of our respect.
