Okay everyone, feel free to heave a big sigh of relief. Due to a couple of factors, this review is not going to be one of my usual long-winded essays. Factor #1) I never heard of Antithesis prior to receiving this disc from EvilG, so all I know about them is what’s contained in their bio. And factor #2) Antithesis’ music didn’t capture my attention in any manner, positive OR negative. I didn’t really like it, nor did I dislike it. Simply put, it went in one ear and out the other. Therefore, I haven’t got a whole lot to say about it. (On three... 1... 2... 3... Inhale....... Aaaaaaaahhh)



Based out of Ohio, Antithesis are a very technically proficient power/thrash quintet. Comprised of vocalist Ty Cook, guitarist Sean Perry, bassist Jim Lewis, guitarist Paul Konjicija (who, according to their bio, has left the band), and drummer Paul Kostyack, Antithesis’ music bears some similarity to that of Switzerland’s Coroner, but unfortunately lacks the European flair necessary for this type of technically over-the-top metal to appeal to my tastes. While listening, New York’s Unleashed Power sprang to mind as well. Also according to the band’s bio, guitarist Konjicija has been replaced by an 18 year old prodigy named Allan Marcus, who is going to re-record Konjicija’s leads before the CD is reissued (The first pressing has apparently been sold out.). Hopefully they’ll make some adjustments to the overall sound of the disc as well, since the production was just a tad on the muddy side.
