Released: 2012, Candlelight Records
It’s been a long, hard seven years for these on-again, off-again, now on-again Americans. Unfortunately, over the course of seven or so releases, they have yet to distinguish themselves as a band worth hearing. The main problem? A little trendhopitis. Yep, these guys have been behind the times trend-hoppers since the beginning...this latest release changes nothing.
Thankfully the metalcore elements are long forgotten, but now it seems that the band, perhaps unsatisfied with the symphonic black elements of their last album, are trying to mine the post-black & doom genres, contributing nothing new in the process.
I’m sure the band would say that this is a natural evolution of their sound, or some such bull hooey. Whatever. The fact is, Abigail Williams has had absolutely nothing to say since inception and BECOMING is just another in an increasingly long line of competently played music that has no reason to exist.
