Am I Blood
Gone With You
July 2001
Released: 2000, DarkLight Records
Rating: 3.0/5

Do you miss the “Black Album” from Metallica? Do you miss the aggression that James Hetfield once had in his vocals? Well, this “Metallica wanna-be” band hailing from Helsinki, Finland sure must miss it! The band formed in 1992 and in the eight years since their formation they have unfortunately been unable to carve out their own sound.

The thing with any band that sounds too much like another is that I’ll always think a little less of them for not stepping out from the shadow of their main influence to be their own band. I can accept a band on their first album sounding a little too close for comfort to the band they admire but if they don’t expand after that they need to seriously examine their existence in my opinion! Am I Blood’s CD opens with the title track “Gone With You” and it’s very close to Metallica’s “Sad But True.” The other three tracks on this EP are all well played in terms of the guitars, leads, drums…it’s just suffering way to much from sounding like Metallica, so much so that I can’t get into it. These guys have the talent and potential to do a lot more but until they do if I want to hear Metallica, I’ll put on one their older CD’s.

A shitload of Am I Blood’s songs (including 2 from this release) can be downloaded from the band’s site at at Also, check for the latest news on the band.
