Out Of The Black
November 2016
Released: 2015, Independant
Rating: 3.0/5
Reviewer: UK Team

Forming in April 2014, the Greek four-piece metal band Alphastate set out with the concept of combining a classic 80’s style with a modern sound and it’s evident that this has been achieved within their debut album OUT OF THE BLACK

The album kicks off with their title track and the confident tempo is sustained throughout the duration of the album with the exception of Worlds Control which has a slow-paced and gentle intro emphasizing the versatility of Xanthakis’ vocals. Built on the foundations of classic rock, this album combines clean narrative vocals with intricate riffs and fast-paced drums with a passion and energy for creating a classic sound which is often withdrawn from modern metal. Throughout the album there is no shortage of guitar shredding and solo’s allowing Breaker to effortlessly execute the technical guitar riffs. This band have taken influence from a number of authentic metal bands including Pantera, Ozzy Osbourne and Black Label Society, if this is your style but with a modern edge then this album is for you.

Alphastate will be taking to the stage for the debut show with Aethesin and Killbill Sinners at the Silver Dollar music bar in Thessaloniki, Greece on December 4th 2016.
