Alice Cooper
Raise The Dead: Live From Wacken (Blu-Ray)
January 2015
Released: 2014, UDR
Rating: 4.5/5
Reviewer: Celtic Bob

What can be said about an Alice Cooper show that hasn’t already been said? The guy puts on one of the greatest shows on earth and never disappoints. He is the original showman and he surrounds himself with extraordinary players. This show filmed at Wacken in 2013 is a testament to that.

I have seen Alice in concert several times and it is always an amazing time. Unfortunately I haven’t seen him live sin 2008 so this and the THEATRE OF DEATH have to suffice until I get the opportunity to see him again.

This Blu-Ray is extremely well done in all areas. The sound is mixed perfectly and deserves to be turned up as loud as possible for full concert effect. Sharp video with nice angles. Enjoyable to watch unlike some that change to a different camera every second or two. The editing for RAISE THE DEAD gives you time to see what is happening before switching to another shot.

The setlist includes a couple of deep cuts mixed in amongst the standards. Hearing “He’s Back” live is worth the price of admission alone. This was the song that helped spark his comeback in the mid-80’s thanks to the movie and his CONSTRICTOR album. His ‘Dead, Drunk Friends’ segment is really cool. It’s a shame that the Lennon and Hendrix segments were included on the CD but not the video. What’s up with that?

Fantastic video from start to finish that is chock full of killer tunes from the ultimate Rock and Roll showman. I cannot recommend this enough. Pick this and the SUPER DUPER ALICE COOPER Blu-Ray for the ultimate Coop experience without leaving your home.
