Anyone that knows me knows I’m an Alice fan. I have traveled halfway across my Province and even the Country to see his shows. Always a good time. With that said, the folks at Audio Fidelity have reissued the best sounding Alice discs in my collection. Their SCHOOL’S OUT and LOVE IT TO DEATH are stupendous as are BILLION DOLLAR BABIES and KILLER. Dare I say it? This is the best one yet?
Despite being a fan of Coop I am somewhat ashamed to say I do not own all of his albums. Back in the 80’s I pretty much had them all on tape or LP but over the years the LP’s were sold along with the old cassettes. Now I am slowly rebuilding the collection on LP and CD thanks to folks like Music On Vinyl and Audio Fidelity.
This album features one of my favourite Cooper tracks, “Teenage Lament ’74”. Hearing the Super Audio layer literally blast through my stereo is pure sonic bliss. Every detail is hear in a perfectly mastered mix. The Coop has never sounded so good. The title track, “Working Up A Sweat” and “Man With A Golden Gun” (which should have been a Bond theme) sound better than ever.
What can I say about this classic album that has yet to be said? It’s fantastic from start to finish and this SACD (which is playable on ALL CD players) is the best I have ever heard it. I bet your bottom dollar that this will sell out quick so grab your copy NOW. I hope they continue to release more Alice in the future. I would love to see GOES TO HELL, GREATEST HITS and NIGHTMARE get the Audio Fidelity SACD treatment.
