Alexa
S/T (remastered)
August 2006
Released: 2006, MTM Music/Zink Music
Rating: 2.0/5
Reviewer: Anders Sandvall

This is a newly remastered old album from Alexa that was first released 17 years ago. The first time the album came out it was lost in the flood of similar music that came at that time, like Lita Ford, Erika, Vixen, Lee Aaron and Headpins. Alexa became known in the Bay Area and rocked through L.A. and San Fransisco’s club scene for a while. This self-titled album came out in a strictly-limited edition in 1989, and suddenly the album was on eBay and was announced to be sold at 150 dollars.

Alexa plays 80’s melodic hardrock and her biggest asset is indeed her voice. She has a characteristic voice that really fits melodic hardrock. The music is what you would expect from this genre. To be honest, it feels like I have heard this album a few times before in my life, because it sounds like everyone else in this genre.

Paul Sabu produced the album, and even though the production should be updated and should have a clearer sound, it sounds just like the productions did during the 80-90’s. Nothing new there either.

This album adds nothing to the already-existing products out on the market, and don’t be sad if you don’t get your hands on it - any Vixen or Erika album will do just fine. A few tracks that stand are “I Can’t Shake You”, “Dance The Night Away”, “Let It Rock”.
