Unfinished Business
August 2002
Released: 2002, Aftershock Muzik
Rating: 4.0/5
Reviewer: Pete

As I sit here and type with one hand and pump my fist in the air with the other, I ask you, what happened to this style of metal???? “Classik Metal”… I love it!!!! And I’m sure many of you do as well. AFTERSHOK are four guys on a mission: to spread the word of “Classik Metal”.

Vocalist Vik Hix (formerly of Shok Paris) screams ‘Are you ready for us” on opener “Armed and Dangerous”. This guys vocals are the goods!! Check out the Dio-esque “Beware of The Night”, or the Accept-ish “Bad Moon”. Classic stuff. Also, hats off to George Mihalovich (guitars, vocals) who isn't afraid to shred when called upon. Check out his solo on “Remember”. “Broken Wings” plods along as if it could have fit right in on Sabbath’s “Dehumanizer”, with George B (drums, vocals) and Nick G (bass, vocals) locking in on a tight groove.

Well, as you’ve guessed, I really enjoyed this, as I miss this no-frills, no-shit real HEAVY METAL that is not as prevalent as it once was in the 80’s. Do yourself a favor and check out AFTERSHOK. Now if you’ll excuse me, it’s time to go dust off the vinyl...
