Aiden
Nightmare Anatomy
May 2006
Released: 2005, Victory Records
Rating: 2.5/5
Reviewer: MetalChick

They look like Green Day, they sound like Green Day - just add a lot more makeup and grim lyrics. Their songs are built around the upbeat, happy melodies laced with suicidal verses to create their heavy brand of punk rock. It’s all extremely catchy. It all sounds the same, but it’s catchy nonetheless.

Aiden utilizes the dual guitars quite nicely by overlapping some melodies over a rhythm riff, which gives the songs a much stronger foundation. The vocals are typical of this style: harmonious yet punchy. Of course, another typical characteristic is the lack of variation in the songs. It is nearly impossible for me to distinguish each song from another. The one song I do like a lot though is "Die Romantic," perhaps because the chorus is the most catchy of the entire album and I can’t get it out of my head.

I truly think Aiden is not something that would be appreciated by true metal fans. It’s sad that something as basic as this will probably be accepted among the general public much more than any metal ever will be.
