Age Of Evil
Get Dead EP
January 2010
Released: 2009, Self Released
Rating: 3.0/5
Reviewer: Robert Williams

The four piece of Scottsdale, Arizona rockers Age Of Evil offer up two new songs, two cover tracks and a couple of live tunes on this their six song stopgap GET DEAD EP. Lead off track "Cruel Intentions" demonstrates some serious shredding ability from lead guitarist Jordan Ziff who blazes through some pretty above average fretboard pyrotechnics. There's also some catchy vocal phrasing on the part of lead singer Jeremy Goldberg, but unfortunately his delivery is pretty snotty sounding and in the end comes off feeling a little bit too mallrat like in nature.

Age Of Evil certainly picked some cool songs to cover on this EP; namely "Slave To The Grind" by Skid Row and "The Hellion/Electric Eye" by the all mighty Judas Priest. Musically these covers are right on the money, vocally I would have preferred a singer with a better range, especially when covering songs by vocalists who can hit insane highs with amazing clarity.

Rounding out the EP are two live tracks taken from the debut album "Living A Sick Dream" The band sounds really tight even in a live atmosphere. If you enjoyed the debut disc this EP should prove to be an enjoyful listen. If you are new to Age Of Evil you'd probably do best to start with the debut.
