Age of Silence
Complications: Trilogy of Intricacy
June 2006
Released: 2006, The End Records
Rating: 3.5/5
Reviewer: Asassinkiller

Age of Silence is a Norwegian super group composed by the people behind Solefald, Borknagar, Arcturus and Winds. So if you have heard these bands, you will get a good idea of the sound behind this post black/progressive band. COMPLICATIONS: TRILOGY OF INTRICACY comes after their debut ACCELERATION and follows a very similar path in all aspects.

This EP opens with “The Idea of Independence and the Reason Why It’s Austere”. This song is by far the best one of the CD. It’s pretty melodic and Lazares vocal delivery is simply great. Unfortunately the next two songs, “Mr. M. Man of Muzak” and “Vouchers, Coupons and the End of A Shopping Session”, even if they are pretty good in their own right, have nothing to do with the opener. There is just a big gap between these.

Conceptually, the bands main goal is to do research on mankind’s behavior and thought patterns, and then express it through music. To know further about this I recommend you to visit their website, where the band is shown as a multi million dollar company, where it is funny to see Hellhammer presented as the Chief Executive Chairman, since he is sitting all day behind his drum kit.

This EP is not only for fans of the aforementioned bands, but also for anyone into Metal with an open mind. This 15-minute teaser of things to come is surely a good one. Now, let’s see what the band does next.
