AC/DC
Family Jewels (DVD)
March 2015
Released: 2005, Epic Records Rating: 3.5/5 Reviewer: JP There are many sub-standard, no-frills, contractual obligation Greatest Video collections that are on the market. Fortunately, FAMILY JEWELS by AC/DC is one of the best in terms of quality and quantity. This nice looking two-disc set is housed in an unconventional package unfortunately which is easily damaged, it should have been in a standard jewel case. The cover design is made to look like brushed metal but is easily scuffed or dented. Inside we get a 24 page, full-colour booklet with a long essay by David Fricke. There are notes and credits to every video in the set as well as dozens and dozens of photos. In total there are a whopping 40 videos including all of the VHS releases FLY ON THE WALL, WHO MADE WHO and CLIPPED. The videos run chronologically and are lots of fun. All of these videos (or the vast majority) have had heavy rotation on Much Music and MTV so there is not that much new, but having FLY ON THE WALL on DVD is really nice with it’s little storyline connecting the videos. Some are live some are studio, some are serious, some are funny and all of them are loud! The videos span from 1975 to 1990 and AC/DC released a companion set called BACKTRACKS included the FAMILY JEWELS Disc Three covering from 1990 to the current era. Overall this is a wonderful package, very well done and a great addition to the video library of any hard rocking Metal fan. ![]()
