Kam Lee quits Denial Fiend

Added Wednesday, January 7
Added By: Arto
I have decided to leave the band DENIAL FIEND, but it's NOT anything that should be looked at as me leaving "on bad terms". I will admit in some recent interviews I painted a pretty bleak pictue that may have appeared to be all one sided, but the truth is - it's just simple 'band politics' - that's all.
I have heard that DENIAL FIEND will continue on with-out my involvement, and I really do wish them the best of luck with it.
I still feel that the album "THEY RISE" is a fantastic great album... we had a lot of fun creating it, but for me personally somewhere later on - that fun began to fade. So it is for the best that I just leave the band... once more - I wish the band and it's members good luck for the future.
I will however keep pushing forwards with my "New" Death Metal Band - BONE GNAWER! We have our full length debut about to be release sometime soon - but for now you can check us out here: www. myspace. com/bonegnawerband

DEICIDE Signs Worldwide Deal With Century Media
|
|
| |
Added Tuesday, January 6
Added By: EvilG
Twenty years ago, an underground cult movement surfaced in Tampa, Florida that revolutionized the metal world. The pioneers of this burgeoning scene, DEICIDE, are still striking fear into hearts of the masses to this day. Century Media Records are extremely proud to announce a worldwide deal with DEICIDE, one of the founding fathers of death metal. The group stands strong to this day as one of the most influential and controversial bands ever. With a relentlessly brutal sound and uncompromisingly blasphemous lyrics, DEICIDE helped set the standards for extreme metal and have maintained those standards ever since.
DEICIDE led by original members Glen Benton (vocals, bass) and Steve Asheim (drums) have been busy at Audiohammer Studios with Mark Lewis (Black Dahlia, Chimaira) and are looking at a summer '09 release. The group have reunited with legendary guitarists Jack Owen (ex-Cannibal Corpse) and Ralph Santolla (Obituary, ex-Iced Earth, Death) and will embark on a two-week European tour this week. Feel free to visit (Click here to open link) to view their complete itinerary.
Benton states: “I want to say it is an honor to be an official CM artist. I look forward to working with the fine folks at CM and providing them with our style of metal. I can ensure you that what surfaces will definitely be nothing less than a total bash-your-face-in-from-start-to-finish, bastard. HAIL SATAN!!!!”
Asheim further comments: “I'm happy to be a part of the CM family and look forward to working with them. The new DEICIDE material in the works should be a good way to kick off the new deal. It’s a totally sick new record with a totally sick new label, but the same ol’ sick DEICIDE. See you all in 2009 and hold onto your balls!”
Owen adds: “It is an honor and a pleasure to sign with one of the most established metal labels on the planet. Century Media's track record speaks for itself, and we can't wait to unleash this beast of a new DEICIDE album through the mighty CM! Many thanks to Kevin Astl and Steve Joh for their long hours bringing this deal to full fruition!”
DEICIDE released their groundbreaking self-titled debut in 1990. Recorded at Tampa's Morrisound Studio (the legendary studio where the band would go on to record all its albums), the vicious debut would soon be hailed as one of the "Top 100 Metal Albums of the 90's" by England's metal authority, Terrorizer Magazine. In 1992, DEICIDE followed up their debut with Legion, which was an instant success, further establishing their furious musical intensity and vengeful anti-Christian stance. This landmark extreme metal release secured their place at the forefront of the American death metal scene as they rapidly earned a reputation for controversy.
DEICIDE’s appearance and live antics matched the extremity of their music and lyrics. With an inverted cross branded into his forehead, Benton cast himself as the incarnation of pure evil. At shows, he was known to pull such stunts as dousing the crowds with bags full of real animal organs. DEICIDE quickly found themselves banned from clubs, boycotted by magazines, and blacklisted by Christian groups and animal-rights activists. Anti-establishment to the core, DEICIDE embodied the worst fears of the conservative masses, and loved it. Rather than shy away from controversy, DEICIDE provoked it and willingly engaged in it.
DEICIDE stormed ahead into the future, releasing numerous albums engulfed by waves of controversy, as their popularity continued to ferment within the scene. However, it was the 2006 release The Stench of Redemption that put the band back on the map as the leaders of the genre. This was their first album to showcase the more melodic leads of guitarists Owen and Santolla which only added to their riotous and enigmatic success. DEICIDE looks forward to taking things to the next level in 2009, promising to deliver the album of their already heralded career.

Dark Heart for the first time on a CD
|
|
| |
Added Tuesday, January 6
Added By: EvilG
Metal Mind Productions presents the first CD release of the debut album by Dark Heart – “Shadow Of The Night”.
Dark Heart are one of the many bands that sprung out during the golden years of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal movement. Their recipe for success was simple – keep it fast, keep it melodic and keep it rockin’! Their album “Shadow of the Night” followed that exact pattern and proved to be a solid heavy metal release, delivering powerful riffs, sharp solos, intense drumming and melodic vocals – all the necessary ingredients for a NWOBHM classic.
The history of Dark Heart started in 1983 in Northallerton, England, after the disbandment of another heavy metal formation – Tokyo Rose. Some members of that band decided to go into a slightly different direction and start anew. Thus Dark Heart was formed, consisting of the following musicians: Alan Clark (guitar), Colin Bell (bass), Phil Brown (vocals), Steve Small (guitar) and Ian Thompson (drums). The band almost immediately got signed to Roadrunner Records and started working on their debut release at the acclaimed Guardian Studios in Durham, England. “Shadow of the Night” hit the stores in September 1984, bringing a powerful dose of Diamond Head-influenced heavy metal. All of the nine tracks included on the album contain the pure essence of NWOBHM, making the LP a true sign of its times. The highlight here are definitely the occult-inspired “Don’t Break the Circle”, the straight-forward rocker “Giving It All For Love” and the brilliant “Dangerous Games”. But Dark Heart was not afraid to go a bit off the rails with their music, for instance with the instrumental blues-rock intro to the track “Shout It Out” or the semi-ballad “Turn The Tide”. To put it simple - “Shadow of the Night” delivered a handful of excellent ideas wrapped in a 100% heavy metal package! Dark Heart eventually turned out to be a 1-album band, but their effort was not fruitless. “Shadow of the Night” to this day remains a valuable addition to every heavy music enthusiast’s collection, delivering a prime slice of NWOBHM musicianship.
New digipak edition is limited to numbered 1000 copies and digitally remastered using 24-Bit process on a golden disc. Metal Mind Productions will release the album on 19th January in Europe and 10th March in USA (via MVD).

CRIMINAL -- New track posted online!

Added Monday, January 5
Added By: EvilG
Anglo-Chilean thrash masters CRIMINAL have uploaded the track "21st Century Paranoia", from their upcoming album "White Hell", to their MySpace page!
"White Hell" will be released on February 27th, 2009 by Massacre Records. In Europe the album will be released in a limited edition including a bonus DVD, the contents of which will be announced shortly, while the South American version of the album will contain the bonus track "Hermanos Dementes".
The track listing for "White Hell" is:
1. 21st Century Paranoia
2. Crime and Punishment
3. Incubus
4. Black Light
5. The Deluge
6. Strange Ways
7. Mobrule
8. The Infidel
9. Invasion
10. Eyes of Temptation
11. Bastardom
12. Sons of Cain
Formed in the early 90s in Santiago de Chile by ex-Pentagram mastermind Anton Reisenegger and guitar virtuoso Rodrigo Contreras, CRIMINAL were combining elements of thrash, hardcore and death metal long before the term "metalcore" was even thought of. The band enjoyed a meteoric rise to the forefront of the South American metal scene, including five-digit album sales, shows with the likes of Kreator, Sepultura and Slayer and a nomination for Best Rock Video at the MTV Latino Video Music Awards, but was faced with severe personal and business problems around the turn of the decade. Reisenegger and Contreras then decided to relocate to the UK, regrouping in a half-Chilean, half-British line-up. Since then, the band has played on major European festivals such as Wacken and Summer
Breeze, as well as support shows with bands such as Chimaira, Six Feet Under, Brujeria and Lamb of God.
CRIMINAL's latest studio offering, "Sicario", was hailed by the press as one of the finest thrash metal releases of 2005 and was voted into the Top Ten Albums of the Year by the readers of Terrorizer magazine. At the same time, the band's status in their home country remains unbroken, as evidenced by a four-page feature in the Chilean edition of Rolling Stone magazine and a recent show supporting Megadeth in front of over 14,000
metalheads.
Upcoming CRIMINAL live shows:
Jan 11 -- Santiago, Chile -- Club Hípico, Cumbre del Rock Chileno
Jan 13 -- Buin, Chile -- Buinlebar
Jan 14 -- Talca, Chile -- Pub El Webeo

Annihilator - Re-release of "Set The World On Fire"
|
|
| |
Added Monday, January 5
Added By: EvilG
For many fans Annihilator has always been the silent hero of thrash metal. They never got the same attention as Megadeth, Metallica or Slayer, but when musical critics predicted the end of thrash metal by the end of the 80’s, they shut their mouths with one of the most intense thrash metal releases ever – “Alice in Hell”. Annihilator’s next offering, “Never, Neverland”, was a proof that the greatness of their debut was not a matter of coincidence – the album delivered the same sheer thrash madness, backed up by some extremely melodic riffs and solos. Since the release of their critically acclaimed debut album, Annihilator released several other albums, “Metal” (2007) being the latest one.
On “Set The World On Fire”, the Annihilator’s third studio album from 1993, the band leaves some of the thrashier elements from their two first albums behind by focusing more on melodies. With the three octave range of Aaron Randal's voice and the sheer complexity of Jeff Waters' riffs they manage to create some of the most beautiful melodies. And today Metal Mind Productions presents the re-release of “Set The World On Fire”. New edition of the album includes 2 bonus tracks plus an additional CD with a promotional video for “Set the World on Fire”, video material featuring Jeff Waters speaking about the process of writing and recording “Set the World on Fire”, touring, making of the "Set the Worls on Fire" video and more. The bonus CD also includes additional video and audio material: live clips, interviews, home video recordings and some live Annihilator videos from 1989. Digipak edition is limited to 2000 copies. Digitally remastered using 24-Bit process, released on a golden disc.
The release date is set up for 19th January in Europe and 10th March in USA (via MVD).

KING DIAMOND & His 24-Year-Old Wife
|
|
| |
Added Monday, January 5
Added By: EvilG
Danish web site BT.dk recently conducted an interview with legendary heavy metal singer King Diamond (real name: Kim Bendix Petersen; KING DIAMOND, MERCYFUL FATE) in which he speaks about his 24-year-old Hungarian wife Livia Zita, whom he calls his "soulmate." According to King, who is 52 years old, he spoke to Livia for the first time when she interviewed him over the phone for the Hungarian edition of Metal Hammer magazine. "We got along incredibly well. And afterwards I couldn't stop thinking about her," King says.
"We were both going through a hard time in our lives," he continues. "And we clicked. At some point, I asked her if she would send a photograph of herself. We had talked together for months. But I didn't know how old Livia was… nor how she looked, and when she told me she was 24, I simply couldn't believe it."
When asked what happened to the man who wrote a song called "A Corpse Without A Soul" with MERCYFUL FATE in 1982, King replies, "Ahhh, our music has only become heavier. But I admit that being in love has made me a bit soft inside. Every day is like Christmas. I am just so much in love with Livia."
Despite the fact that King is 28 years her senior, Livia is not concerned. "Our ages are just numbers," she says. We are soulmates."
Regarding how their relationship developed, Livia says, "We talked at first over the phone. Then he went to Hungary, where he, on our first night together, proposed both in English and in German — so that my father would understand it. I, of course, said yes. He and I are just made for each other."
So what does the metal princess calls her heavy metal husband — King? Kim? Prince Of Darkness?
"Haha, I call him 'baby,'" she replies. "'Cause, to me, he is not a rock star. He is my baby."
King Diamond and Livia are not just involved in a romantic relationship, they are also business partners. Livia is singing backing and harmony vocals for her husband — both in the studio and onstage. They are also working together on new songs. At the moment, Mr. and Mrs. Diamond, who reside in Dallas, Texas, are extremely busy compiling old MERCYFUL FATE and KING DIAMOND footage for two separate double-DVD releases which are tentatively due this spring. At the same time, the couple is overseeing the re-release of four remastered KING DIAMOND albums: "Spider's Lullabye", "The Graveyard", "Voodoo" and "House Of God".
"We're soulmates," King Diamond echoes his wife's sentiments. "I am just so much in love."
