WITCHES MARK – Ragnarökkr Metal Apocalypse post-festival wrap up

April 24th, 2014
WITCHES MARK

WITCHES MARK

WITCHES MARK performed as a main-stage act at this year’s Ragnarökkr Metal Apocalypse in Chicago, Illinois on Saturday April, 5th. We took a train from the airport into the city and then caught a bus to get to our hotel. We caught up with metal legends RIOT V in the hotel lobby before heading to the venue. They were the festival’s headliner Friday night. They sounded incredible live with their new vocalist Todd Michael Hall (Jack Starr’s Burning Starr).

Saturday we took a forty minute drive to Homewood, Illinois for a quick rehearsal at an old friend’s studio before our performance at Ragnarökkr Metal Apocalypse later that evening. We arrived back at the venue with enough time to woof down some tacos and a Pabst Blue Ribbon or two before show time.

Festival organizer Jason McMaster comments on Iron Fist Fest

September 5th, 2013
Iron Fist Fest

Iron Fist Fest

The inaugural installment of Iron Fist Fest will take place September 28th at the Dirty Dog Bar in Austin, Texas (505 E 6th St)

Featuring a colossal, studded iron fistful of true underground American heavy metal in a one night only, all-star billing; Iron Fist Fest will showcase scorching performances by Austin’s own heavy-hitting traditional metal supergroup Ignitor, the blackened, grimy gutter thrash of The Blood Royale, the “Bringers Of Heavy Metal Death” Witches Mark, the long awaited return of San Antonio 80’s metal veterans Wicked Angel, the misanthropic, hate-fueled black metal of NW demons Panzergod and the earth shaking rumblings of up and coming, fantasy/epic metal titans Eternal Champion.

Ignitor vocalist and festival organizer Jason McMaster elaborates:

“Bringing metal bands together for shows has been a passion for me personally since my earliest days in Austin. I can remember there only being a few metal bands at all to do shows with, as early as 1982, and dating myself that far back is not an embarrassment, it is an honor. Nowadays, Austin has more metal than ever and more metal map to the rest if the world. The bands we hav playing Iron Fist Fest are either on tour, or are celebrating metal glory in Austin.”

The four band members of WITCHES MARK recently commented on their new album WITCHING METAL RITUAL in a string of interviews with the underground metal press.

“When people think of the U.S. they don’t think of the traditional metal, they think of Britain, Germany… But the United States had Manowar, they had Virgin Steele, they had Slayer… Tons of bands that really were the best out there and that’s what we wanted to showcase on our album because we are American as well.” bassist Andy Gonzalez stated in an interview with SA Musicians Talk Show Radio.

When asked in an exclusive video interview with Robb’s Metal Works to describe what metal fans can expect to hear on the band’s new album “Witching Metal Ritual” vocalist and guitarist Robb Bockman had the following to say “I’d best describe it as a bunch of dudes that love metal and we just play what we wanna fucking hear. It’s a celebration of metal.”

“Definitely energy, power and attitude…Gotta make a statement, you know?” stated drummer Scott Palmer in an interview with Slayed In Oregon. Guitarist and founding member Robert Williams added “We were able to bring a heavier, meaner, darker sound.”

“Witching Metal Ritual” will be released in Enhanced-CD format and will also include bonus video content including a music video for the album’s title track.

In late 2009, Heaven and Hell Records released “A Grim Apparition” the debut EP from WITCHES MARK

About Slayed In Oregon

After watching for years as the mainstream media outlets overlook and often ignore the underground metal scene, Veteran internet radio DJ and metal fan Rev decided it was high time for change. So in late 2010 he began putting together an idea to bring to the world a metal show, focusing on the underground. With a spotlight on The unsigned bands of the Pacific Northwest he now considers home. After being put on the back burner and nearly forgotten about, Rev met with fellow Portland metal head and camera person April Jones. The two spoke at length about the idea, and finally in may of 2012 every came together. Slayed in Oregon was born!!!! For more information, visit www.slayedinoregon.com
