WHITE WIZZARD has launched a new track, “Strike The Iron,” taken from their upcoming third full-length album, The Devils Cut. Due out on June 3rd in Europe via Earache Records and on June 25th in the USA via Century Media/Earache Records, The Devils Cut features artwork by Cameron Davis (http://www.cdavisart.com), who is known for his work as the lead character designer and illustrator for the Guitar Hero video game series.
WHITE WIZZARD bassist and main-man JON LEON comments about “Strike The Iron”:
“‘Strike the Iron’ is my favorite WHITE WIZZARD song I have ever written, along with ‘The Sun Also Rises’, which closes the new record. I am very proud of the arrangement. I had the verse melody in my head and chorus line before I even picked up the guitar and started writing it. It has stunning leads by Jake and Will, and Joseph interpreted the vocal melody fantastically and gave so much character to it. This song really exemplifies everything this line-up is capable of and everyone’s talents really came through on it. It never lets up and we are very excited to get this one out there live…I expect it to be our opening song for the next couple of years.”

“It was great to work with the amazing artist Cameron Davis again, who also did the art for our album ‘Over the Top’. Cameron and I live in the same building here in LA and he is a really talented guy. When he presented me the piece for the album cover, I knew right away it was the one. It has amazing imagery and depth and is very artful, while making a tongue-in-cheek statement poking some fun at organized religion, which is something I feel strongly about.
“Some of my lyrics on this album and previous albums focus on not letting religion and the cult of group belief blind you from the preservation of thinking for yourself and being an individual, so it ties into that very well, as the statement of the piece is how religion is imprisonment for the soul and how, even within its own confines, it forces its believers into blind group submission. I think any of us that went to catholic school as a child can relate to that nun!!! It has ‘classic metal cover’ all over it and it just blew my mind.

Los Angeles heavy metallers WHITE WIZZARD have confirmed a show in West Hollywood with veterans LIZZY BORDEN.
WHITE WIZZARD – who are currently recording their new studio album, THE DEVIL’S CUT – will be supporting LIZZY BORDEN at the world famous Whisky A Go Go on the Sunset Strip on April 13th.

WHITE WIZZARD is once again working with producer Ralph Patlan (MEGADETH, UFO, MICHAEL SCHENKER) at Phase Four Studios in Tempe, Arizona to record The Devil’s Cut, the band’s third full-length album that features new vocalist Joseph Michael. WHITE WIZZARD released a demo in 2012 of one of the new tracks, called “Torpedo of Truth”, which was the band’s first recording to feature Michael. Listen to the track now here:

Says the band: “The new WW album is written and will be called The Devils Cut. It is 8 songs to tear your heads off. Jon (Leon) is perfecting lyrics and vocal melodies now after having written the best WW yet and Jake (Dreyer) and Will (Wallner) are writing masterful leads that are gonna blow your heads off.

WHITE WIZZARD have confirmed a special show in Tokyo, Japan in support of the band’s latest album, FLYING TIGERS.

Ahead of the release of FLYING TIGERS, WHITE WIZZARD bassist and mainman JON LEON took some time to speak to Victor Ruiz of Mars Attacks Radio about the band’s approach to writing the new album and the expectations of following on from their critically-acclaimed debut album, OVER THE TOP.
JON LEON comments:
“I didn’t go into Flying Tigers feeling like there was any debt to prove anything to anybody. Everything with me, with the writing of White Wizzard, has been pretty much a natural flow, and it’s been exactly what I’ve been feeling at the time and what’s come out of me – none of it’s contrived. I’m just pretty much a Rush geek and an Iron Maiden geek that loves music, that finally got sick of compromising being in different bands and just decided to form this band not caring if ten people showed up, and I still write like that. I feel blessed that people have reacted so positively to White Wizzard; I’m really, really happy to see that something that I did just kind of on a whim, to form the band I wanted to form and make the music I want, has at least resonated with some people and hopefully it will continue to do so.
“I’m really just focused on myself and our fans, and anybody else that is judging us or feeling like we need to prove something to them, I really am not worried about. At the end of the day I’m very, very proud of this record and I think it’s the best thing I feel I’ve ever done musically as an artist, and I feel like White Wizzard’s continuing to progress and I’m progressing as a writer. It was a pleasure to make this record and it’s definitely a very exciting time for me as far as what we’re going to be putting out.”

“When I wrote the music and lyrics for this song, it just seemed so visual that it lent itself to being the album title. The Flying Tigers was the name given to the First American Volunteer Group of the Chinese Air Force, and they took on the Japanese, who had far superior aircraft, with incredible success. Their kill to death ratio was amazing.”

Los Angeles traditional heavy metal act WHITE WIZZARD have confirmed a North American tour with reactivated San Francisco Bay Area thrashers FORBIDDEN.
WHITE WIZZARD will be kicking off the tour on June 9th at the Whisky A Go Go in Hollywood with FORBIDDEN, plus REVOCATION and HAVOK. The shows will be WHITE WIZZARD’s first since the return of vocalist WYATT “THE SCREAMING DEMON” ANDERSON.
WHITE WIZZARD bassist and founding member JON LEON comments:
“I am very excited to be touring with Forbidden. Forbidden was my favorite band of the Bay Area thrash/metal scene back in the day when I was a kid. I also hold them in the highest regard in musicianship, song writing and technical ability.
“Their first three albums, ‘Forbidden Evil’, ‘Twisted Into Form’, and ‘Distortion’ were all big influences on me and inspired me to want to be a musician. I saw many a show back then, and there was no band in that scene that could pull off a live show better than Forbidden. Russ is one of the few GREAT singers in metal history and he is the best of ALL TIME in the history of thrash. That includes the so called ‘Big Four’.
“I was so bummed they split in the late ’90s, and when they reunited I went up to the Bay Area to see them and it was still magic. I have seen them twice since and they are just getting better and better.
“It is great to go open for a band I respect so much and the best part will be being able to watch their set every night!! Forbidden is a special band and it is great they are back making music and touring again. We are very thrilled to be along for the ride this time.”

Los Angeles traditional metal heroes, WHITE WIZZARD are pleased to announce the return of vocalist, Wyatt Anderson. Affectionately known as “The Screamin’ Demon,” the fan favorite who previously appeared on the band’s sophomore release, OVER THE TOP has rejoined the band as the full-time frontman. He replaces Peter Ellis, who’s US visa issues prevented him from participating in any long term recording or touring plans. Wyatt Anderson is currently recording vocals for the band’s next release and will be a part of the band’s 2011 world tour.
Here is WHITE WIZZARD mainman, Jon Leon with a brief statement on the reunion:
“I am happy to announce that vocalist Wyatt Anderson has rejoined White Wizzard. I want to first and foremost thank Peter Ellis for giving us his all during the last few months. He is a great guy and we wish him all the best. I am sure he will find a great band and he will always be a part of us.
In the end Wyatt and I were able to find a way to make it work. It is what the fans have asked for as well. We know we had something special with Wyatt singing and myself writing, and we want to progress on that chemistry and keep moving forward. We found a way to work around some obstacles so we can pick up where we left off. Over the Top was an album we are both proud of. We are now recording the follow up due out early summer. We plan massive touring in 2011 as well. Thanks to our fans and I am proud and happy to say the screamin’ demon is back.”
Here is a statement from “The Screamin’ Demon” himself:
“Sometimes, people have to take a step back to gain perspective of their lives. That’s what I did. I didn’t see myself getting what I had always wanted out of a band at the level that White Wizzard was. I didn’t like being told what to do, not realizing that it was not only for the benefit of the band, but also for my benefit. Once I had stepped back, though, I began to see that I WAS getting what I had always wanted, it was just coming at a slower rate than what I had expected. Most people who dream of being in a professional band, spend their lives in pursuit of that dream, and never even come close; and I had just given it up. Fortunately, there is a silver lining to this story. White Wizzard and I have reconciled our differences, and I am proud to say that I will once again be handling the vocal duties. This is going to be an exciting time for all in the White Wizzard camp, and I look forward to seeing all of you fans out there once again.”

As previously mentioned, the arrival of Wyatt Anderson brings the departure of Peter Ellis. This split was 100% amicable and everyone in the WHITE WIZZARD camp wishes him well in his future endeavors. Here is a parting statement from Peter:
“My departure from White Wizzard was due to the fact that it just proved impossible to get things done in time to keep up with the time schedule with me being based in London and the band being in Los Angeles because of complications that came up regarding my US VISA. The goal was for me to be a long term member of the band and I am very sorry that things didn’t work out. I have had an amazing experience being the lead singer for the band and I found Jon being a true gentleman and one of the easiest people to work with. I would also like to thank Earache for giving me the chance to be on the “Shooting Star” single and for being so nice to me since day one and most importantly I’d like to thank all the fans for being so supportive of me and making me feel so loved! I have already started working on a new band here in London and we are going to be doing some really cool things in the new year. Expect more news about that soon. WHITE WIZZARD is currently in the studio with producer Ralph Patlan (MEGADETH, UFO, MICHAEL SCHENKER, BONDED BY BLOOD) recording their new album to be released in Spring 2011.
