OF

INTERVIEW AND LIVE PICS BY MARKO SYRJALA
Slaughter is hard rock / glam metal band that was formed late 1988 in Las Vegas, Nevada by former Vinnie Vincent Invasion members – vocalist Mark Slaughter and bassist Dana Strum. The original lineup was completed by guitarist Tim Kelly and drummer Blas Elias. The band reached stardom in 1990 with their first album STICK IT TO YA which went to double platinum in the United States. The album included hit singles “Up All Night”, “Spend My Life” and “Fly to the Angels” which all received heavy radio and MTV rotation. The sophomore album WILD LIFE followed in 1992 and it was another successful release by the band. They released two more albums FEAR NO EVIL (1995) and REVOLUTION (1997) but the changes in the music business and trends in mid 90’s caused Slaughter to slowly lose popularity. The big tragedy struck in 1998 when guitarist Kelly was killed in an auto accident in the Arizona desert. Jeff Blando joined the band in 1999 and the album BACK TO REALITY was released later on that same year. Although Slaughter has not in the headlines lately, they have remained a steady act. The band still tours, mostly in the USA, and in June 2012 they finally came over to Europe. The band performed at the Sweden Rock festival, and yes, this was Slaughter’s first ever show on this continent. In Sweden, I sat down with bassist Dana Strum and we discussed the bands future, the old days, working with Vince Neil, placing people in bands, and of course about his colorful past with Vinnie Vincent. Mark Slaughter and Jeff Blando were also present and they both gave some comments on various things. Read on!!!

 Vince Neil
According to Robin Leach from the Las Vegas Sun, Vince Neil says he is seriously contemplating a split from MÖTLEY CRÜE after their run of concerts at the Joint in the Hard Rock Hotel from February 3-19. “It’s not definite, but I am thinking seriously about it,” the Las Vegas resident said.
The news that Vince might be calling it quits comes on the heels of his 50th birthday this year, obtaining final divorce papers from his ex-wife Lia this past weekend and a long year of international touring with both Mötley Crüe and his solo band.
“This is all about me thinking about the second half of my life,” Neil added, “thinking about my future, and that future might not include Mötley Crüe after Vegas. There are so many opportunities that are in front of me that I’m really excited about. I just don’t want to look back later in life and regret that I didn’t pursue them.”

In other news, Vince Neil will perform a solo show on January 21st at The Rapids Theatre in Niagara Falls, NY.

BRENT FITZ
INTERVIEW AND PICTURES BY MARKO SYRJALA
Drummer Brent Fitz, currently with ECONOLINE CRUSH, is probably best known to many for his great work alongside Bruce Kulick [ex-KISS], John Corabi [ex-MÖTLEY CRÜE] and James Hunting in UNION. Together they recorded and put out three classic albums, the self-titled in 1998 and THE BLUE ROOM in 2000 as well as a live record. He has thereupon, among other things, toured with VINCE NEIL [of MÖTLEY CRÜE] and can be heard on the 2003 live album LIVE AT THE WHISKY. Earlier this year, while his friend Eric Singer was away touring with KISS, Brent helped out in ALICE COOPER when band was doing a string of shows in Australia.
