The Haunted went through a real member turmoil a few years back when three of five members decided to depart the band. However, the band was rescued as two new old old members returned to the fold and a new guitarist was recruited to the ranks as well. The Haunted returned back to the daylight after being on the edge with the strong and pretty furious EXIT WOUNDS album. Metal-Rules.com sat down and talked to the singer Marco Aro about his return to the band, working on the new album, and finally, a little bit about Swedish thrash(?).
Swedish Metal institution THE HAUNTED have recently announced “Exit Wounds” as the title to their upcoming, much anticipated studio album release. The album, which sees the band return their classic deadly thrash metal sound, was again recorded with producer Tue Madsen at Antfarm Studio (Dark Tranquillity; Heaven Shall Burn, Sick Of It All, etc.) in Denmark and will be released on August 25th, 2014 in Europe and September 2nd, 2014 in North America via the band’s longtime label partner Century Media Records.
And the time has now come to debut a first new track off “Exit Wounds”. Check out the furious and relentless opening track “Cutting Teeth” via the website of UK’s Metal Hammer magazine here: metalhammer.teamrock.com
Swedish metal institution, The Haunted, have revealed details for their upcoming new album, which sees the band return to their classic deadly thrash metal sound.
The Haunted’s new album, which was again recorded with the band’s longtime producer Tue Madsen at Antfarm Studio (Dark Tranquillity, Heaven Shall Burn, Sick Of It All) in Denmark, is symbolically and programmatically entitled Exit Wounds, and will be released on August 25th in Europe and September 2nd in North America via the band’s longtime label partner, Century Media Records.
Vocalist Marco Aro commented on the album’s impending release’s title and artwork as follows: “OK my friends, so here we are again… at the threshold of a new The Haunted release. It maybe doesn’t sound very exiting to some… but… it is!!!
This time around we’ve found our way back to where we once started! You could say that we’ve gathered the old crew, both in music and the artwork. Our old friend Andreas “Diaz” Pettersson is back, an amazing artist with a rap sheet which includes the artwork on no less than four The Haunted albums. He always finds a way to put our thoughts into print where he sometimes even scares us a bit… and this release is no different.
We decided on Exit Wounds as being a good title for the album given the recent history of the band, but also a sort of a phoenix rising. FUCKING JÄVLA FÅGEL FENIX… WE ARE BACK!!!
We are so excited about this little thing we’ve created! Can’t wait to get out there and start playing these songs and for me personally, I could not be more proud of what we have done, I really hope you’re going to enjoy it!” Read the rest of this entry »

70000 tons Of Metal is the biggest heavy metal cruise on the planet. It has gained and created a loyal and fanatical following amongst metal fans around the globe in a short few years. Even though there were a lot of discussions, and even some outrage on the official 70000tons forum and social media, about the long silence while waiting to hear about the booking of the bands. However, the whole cruise was a surrealistic experience for journalists and fans alike. Spirits were not dampened by a rainy day which whipped the Caribbean sea and the ship, Majesty Of The Seas, about. The metallic mayhem on the sea sailed from Miami, Florida to Costa Maya, Mexico and back. Here is the brief write-up of all these bands who appeared on the ship.

Due out January 20th in Europe and January 21st in North America via Century Media Records, Eye Of The Storm will be available as a limited edition 7″ and as a digital single, featuring the new songs “Eye Of The Storm”, “Infiltrator” and “My Enemy”. Eye Of The Storm marks THE HAUNTED’s recording debut of the band’s revamped line-up, which includes founding members Jensen (Guitars) and Jonas Björler (Bass), returning members Marco Aro (Vocals) and Adrian Erlandsson (Drums), as well as new member Ola Englund (Guitars).
THE HAUNTED’s Jensen comments: “There aren’t superlatives enough to describe how much the band has longed for these three songs to be released. We are sure fans have been anxious to know what the band sounds like today after all the turmoil and old members leaving and new members joining. We feel that these three songs represent the band perfectly. We are currently working on the new album, an album that will be filled to the brim with what we know to be ‘THE HAUNTED’. We’ll start doing gigs this spring and we’ll do festivals all over the place this summer. Get in touch with the festivals you visit (and behave like an animal at) and tell them to get us on the bill! THE HAUNTED is back. Play it loud. No. Louder.” Read the rest of this entry »

Peter Dolving Interview
by Kirsty Birkett-Stubbs
At the start of 2012 Peter Dolving left The Haunted for a second time, now near the end of that same year he is preparing to release his new solo album Thieves And Liars. In fact the split seems to have opened up a whole new creative well for Peter, and one where we’re keen to see what each bucket drawn will yield. Touching on The Haunted, but focusing on his creative process and the new material, one thing you can be sure of in Peter’s chat with Metal-Rules.com is his unflinching honesty…
It’s with deep regret we have to inform you of another two departures from The Haunted; guitarist Anders Björler and drummer Per Möller Jensen. No animosity whatsoever caused these events, nor are there any other feelings than that they will both be dearly missed. We wish them all the best in whatever, and wherever, their future endeavors will take them.
For all you who have any knowledge about the band, and know how to count, you will realize that there are only two band members left; Jonas and myself. We are still committed to the The Haunted. However, in the light of these recent events, we honestly don’t know what will happen. We hope for your appreciation of our current situation, and for your patience.
Jonas and Jensen
Words from Anders:
“I feel that I have come to the end of the line regarding THE HAUNTED. This is not a sudden or hasty decision. I have been contemplating it for the last couple of years. Peter’s departure earlier this year made me more certain than ever that I had reached my personal goal
with THE HAUNTED, and that the time was right to call it quits.
I have enjoyed every bit of the ride. It’s been an overwhelming journey. I would like to thank the other band members especially,
our crew through the years, and our fans worldwide for the experience and opportunity. Thank you so much! The memories will be with me forever.
I will of course continue writing music, but where that leads me?,simply too early to say.”
Words from Per:
“It’s been a good 13-year stint. All in all, I have no regrets.
My penchant for music, creating — as in digging deep — and practicing has never been at a higher peak than now. When you throw musical differences between members in with that, I started feeling unfulfilled. This is not pointing fingers at anybody, but rather just seeing, accepting and acting on that fact.
Thank you to everybody who has supported us over the years. I have countless memories from shows all over the world. I will cherish all that for the rest of my days, regardless. Thank you!
This is my station right here, this is where I choose to get off the train and pursue new challenges.
There will be new music shortly, some already written and recorded. News on this will follow at a later date.
I wish all the best to Jonas [Björler, bass], [Patrik] Jensen [guitar], Anders [Björler, guitar] and Peter.“
Peter has decided to leave The Haunted permanently. We don’t have any more news or info for you regarding this at the moment, but stay tuned for future updates…
We just wanted to put and end to all the rumors out there.

Sweden’s THE HAUNTED continues to promote their newest album release Unseen , which hit the charts at #5 in Sweden as well as #26 in Finland upon release. After an Australian tour and a busy Summer schedule which saw the band appear at major European open air festival events like Sweden Rock (Sweden), Hellfest (France), Wacken (Germany) and Summer Breeze (Germany), THE HAUNTED has most recently announced a run of dates in Sweden with ENTOMBED as part of the 2011 edition of the “Close-Up Made Us Do It” tour, a couple of headlining shows in Greece, as well as a (re-scheduled) tour of Japan together with Norwegian acts IHSAHN and LEPROUS.
Now, THE HAUNTED is happy to launch the first promotional video clip for the Unseen album. The song “No Ghost” (in a special live rendition from Wacken Open Air festival 2011) can be viewed online here:
This intense live version of “No Ghost” was filmed at Germany’s famous Wacken Open Air Festival 2011 by Marcel Schleiff / Record Film and edited by Anders Björler / At The Gates Production. The live sound recording was engineered by Jacky Lehmann / Audiosound Lehmann and then mixed by the band’s longterm producer Tue Madsen at Antfarm Studio in Denmark.
For gamers, the song “No Ghost” had already been made available earlier this year on the RockBand network. Check out more here:http://www.rockband.com/songs/
THE HAUNTED has also just confirmed three shows in China (in collaboration with XOUNDFORCE) as part of their upcoming Asian tour in December. The band has checked in with a message about these shows and the video clip’s debut:
“A little update from THE HAUNTED camp: We are proud to share the following live video for ‘No Ghost’ which was filmed this summer at Wacken Open Air. The Wacken crew did a great job filming and Tue Madsen did exceptional work mixing this time around.
We are currently preparing for some club shows in Greece, in Sweden with ENTOMBED, as well as a tour of Japan & China. China will be a first for us and we are very excited about this. We are also looking at some more touring next year, but more info about that soon. ‘Til then, keep checking our website & facebook for updates and news.”

THE HAUNTED are back with their follow-up to 2008’s ‘Versus’ and it’s bigger and more exciting than they’ve ever been! ‘Unseen’ sees a band who is unwilling to remain still and continues to push the boundaries of their sound and growth. REVOLVER Magazine recently gave ‘Unseen’ a four star review saying, “‘Unseen’ is daring and varied in its scope and execution, each track markedly different in genre and approach from the last, but never losing the distinctive HAUNTED touch.”
‘Unseen’ will be released upon the masses in North America tomorrow, but THE HAUNTED have released one more trailer for fans to check out before they get to hear this beastly slab of Swedish metal.
