London, UK based progressive metal act, Talanas now present their “unplugged” mini-album ‘asylum’ which is now available here:

See the teaser trailer for the forthcoming video for ‘sister damnable’ here:

With some word recordings on offer in the campaign can be found here:
Recorded at London’s Berry Street Studio, the self-produced mini-album’s five songs concentrate on Britain’s rich history of supernatural and occult-based tales of murderous hauntings, possession, witchcraft & insanity.

Calling on influences such as Fields of the Nephilim, David Sylvian & Einstürzende Neubauten, it also marks the group’s concerted effort to explore different approaches to songwriting, as frontman Hal Sinden explains:

“Though rooted in extreme metal, TALANAS has always been about creating specific atmospheres regardless of the genre of the result. In this instance, we wanted to make sure we could still invoke the same esotericism without having to rely on volume and distortion, especially since James sodding Blunt has come back out of retirement, whilst getting a chance to work with some truly great guest musicians.”

London, UK: The ‘Gentlemen of Death Metal’ have re-entered London’s Berry Street Studio throughout October / November to record the companion piece to 2012’s ‘corpseflower’ EP alongside confirming a UK tour in February 2014 as main support for Netherlands avant-garde death metallers The Monolith Deathcult.

Clocking in at around thirty minutes of total running time, the ‘asylum’ mini- album presents five entirely original tracks penned by the band following the one-off broadcast of an acoustic track written especially by them for ‘The Dark. Outside.’ – an event held at Galloway Forest Dark Sky Park in Scotland by guerrilla music promoter Stuart Mclean.  Having written & recorded their first entirely acoustic song, talanas then decided to develop a separate release solely for the format itself.

Handling production duties themselves, the quartet continue to use their seven string bass & guitars and their full custom Mapex drumkit (still the largest single kit made for an endorsee by Mapex UK) throughout the release, which will be made available in early December through Eulogy Media.
