Few bands have had a rougher go of it than Megadeth the last few years. In 2014, band leader Dave Mustaine had to undergo neck surgery a second time, cancelling their participation in the inaugural Motorboat cruise. Then longtime band members Chris Broderick (guitars) and Shawn Drover (drums) left Megadeth, citing creative differences. The band didn’t tour for a long time, but I just knew wily ol’ Dave had something good up his sleeve. Never, ever, count Megadeth out! Dave’s response to these challenges was to recruit Lamb of God’s drumming powerhouse Chris Adler and Brazilian shredder Kiko Loureiro from Angra and then record the band’s best album in years, DYSTOPIA! Only a killer bill would be fitting for the tour, so we get crossover thrash legends Suicidal Tendencies (with fucking Dave Lombardo on drums!), melodic death metallers Children of Bodom, and young in age but old in style thrashers Havok! Are you metalheads salivating yet or what? Tonight we are in Bethlehem PA, a former steel town that generated most of the steel used for the US ships during WWII. Let’s get Bethlehem cranking out some metal again! SET THE WORLD AFIRE! BRING IT!

Sunday, March 6th was a semi-historical occasion in the Calgary Metal scene. It was the first time that a Metal concert was hosted in the Grey Eagle Casino, a beautiful new venue in Calgary. Sure Queensrcyhe had played the GEC a couple months before but the small seated crowd of 500 older fans but that gig was almost a warm-up for the crowd and style of show as the sold out Megadeth tour. There were so many unanswered questions…would the layout be seats or standing area? Would it be loud enough? How would the line-up’s be? Could security handle the crowd? And most importantly…would there be enough beer?!   I’m pleased to say the GEC met all expectations as it was a great, safe show and it seemed that all the 2700 or so people had a great time.

Slipknot + Suicidal Tendencies

Alexandra Palace, London

9th February, 2016

Review and Photography: Michelle Murphy

As thousands of fans descend upon Alexandra Palace the atmosphere is electric.  Fans wait in the freezing cold in the longest queue I’ve ever seen but that does nothing to dampen their spirits, the crowd breaks into song – a hundred metallers at the top of their voices give a full rendition of “Left Behind” is something special.   Once you’re though the doors, Ally Pally has everything you need for a great night, countless food outlets, acoustic bands playing before the bands start, bars and pubs a plenty.

REVIEW AND PHOTOS BY ARTO LEHTINEN AND MARKO SYRJALA

Slipknot enjoys a fanatical and loyal following up here in Finland. Less than a year ago, Iowa’s masked mongers rampaged and nailed the Finnish audience in the old Ice Hall. Seeing them quite soon again was quite an unexpected and pleasant surprise. Approximately 6000 fans crawled through the frostbitten capital of Finland to witness both Suicidal Tendencies and Slipknot. Yes you did read it right – Suicidal Tendencies!

This is a review of the third edition of Getaway Rock Festival that was held in Gavle, Sweden during three hot days in July. We got to see some exclusive Swedish performances by Suicidal Tendencies, Nightwish, Venom, Manowar, Ministry and Yngwie Malmsteen to mention a few. Other acts that performed were Mustasch, Saxon, Finntroll, Satyricon, Behemoth, Devin Townsend Project and Ghost. Read more about the festival down below.

Fresh off a near ten year hiatus, crossover thrash legends Suicidal Tendencies have returned to the forefront with a string of recent releases with the excellent "No Mercy Fool!/The Suicidal Family" a collection of re-recorded ST classics and No Mercy covers as well as the long awaited DVD release  "Live at the Olympic Auditorium". On this afternoon in Austin, Texas the Suicidal family is gathered to headline an eclectic bill at this year’s "Fun Fun Fun Fest". Metal-Rules.com caught up with ST and were brought up to speed on what these "locos" have been up to during the last ten years, as well as the band’s immediate plans for the future. After a very insightful and engaging conversation with the band, it became clear that all they wanted was a Pepsi…

SUICIDAL TENDENCIES Forced To Postpone Remaining Tour Dates

November 16th, 2010

In a collective statement from crossover kings SUICIDAL TENDENCIES: “Sunday Night ST played NYC to 2000 old and newschool Cycos! It’s always great to hit the East Coast and catch up with a lot of our friends, bands and family. Unfortunately the NYC show will be the last show of this tour. Sadly, one of the band members had a parent pass away suddenly and needed to fly home to be with his family in this difficult time and handle all the funeral arrangements, etc. With heavy hearts, the band decided it would be best to postpone the remaining ST shows and make them up sometime next year. We appreciate your understanding, your thoughts and your prayers. Please give us a few days and we will try and let those who already have tickets how how to get refunds, etc. Again, we are so sorry to have to postpone these shows, but hope that everyone will be able to understand, and we’ll do our best to make the dates up.”

The postponed dates include:
11/17/2010 Metro – Chicago, IL
11/18/2010 Cabooze – Minneapolis, MN
11/20/2010 Summit – Denver, CO
11/21/2010 Sunshine Theatre – Albuquerque, NM
