It was a secret show; announced on the Social Network and promoted as the band name Jam Prancer, but those in the know were quick to share that the band was none other than the historically and politically incorrect kings of sexual perversion – Steel Panther. Known for their well rehearsed debauchery and having less than just six months ago given up their residency at the House Of Blues Hollywood, the news from the band was that the North American bus tour would keep them from returning to Hollywood for the foreseeable future. On Wednesday, August 13th, it was clear that the band would not miss the opportunity to return and celebrate with the long standing establishment that continues to dominate the Sunset Strip’s performance scene, the Viper Room and it’s 21st Anniversary Week of shows.

The air smells like hair spray and there are more wigs and thighs wrapped in tight lycra than you will ever find in Cher’s wardrobe. In the air flows blow up penises and dolls. Is this a bad dream? No, this is normality in the world of California rockers, Steel Panther.

Steel Panther has been joined on stage by rock and roll icons such as Steven Tyler of Aerosmith, Paul Stanley of KISS, Corey Taylor of Slipknot, Tom Morello of Rage Against The Machine/Audioslave, Chester Bennington of Linkin Park and Green Day to name a few. Steel Panther has also been seen on Dancing With The Stars, Bad Girl’s Club and most recently in a national web campaign for Warner Brothers Pictures hit film, Rock Of Ages.

I love hair metal, and I’m not afraid to say it. My love for it goes back to discovering Mӧtley Crϋe at 13 years old, and delving into the whole world of the 80s glam scene as a result. It was pure rock’n’roll fun, and I got my best friends into it, and we ran around like little hair-metal chickies and thumbed our noses at all the kids listening to Panic! At the Disco. So I consider hair metal to be my metal “roots”, if you will, because it steered me on the path of good music at an impressionable age. Now, the only thing that makes me happier than seeing guys in kilts and war-paint onstage is seeing a stage full of guys with giant hair and shiny spandex pants. I’m even the proud owner of the “American Hair Metal encyclopedia”, which will always have a cherished space on my decorative bookshelf. Read the rest of this entry »
It was the first bus tour in the United States for Steel Panther and 88 Miles West were invited to sit in the back of the bus for a chat with Stix Zadinia (drums) and Lexxi Foxx (bass) to talk numerous things such as Lexxi’s ability to communicate with birds and makeup tips, while Stix puts on a show and offerssome driving advice. Plus, there’s a scoop on the new record.

REVIEW AND PICTURES BY MARKO SYRJALA
American glam metal parody band Steel Panther returned to Finland just six months after the previous visit. Although there’s no new album to promote on this round it seems that there’s still plenty of demand for these glam heroes. Last March, the Panthers played in front of 700 people in the sold out Club Nosturi and now there were about 1000 pairs of eyes packed into The Circus in Helsinki.
ALICE COOPER drummer Glen Sobel (whose other credits include Vivian Campbell, SIXX: A.M., BEAUTIFUL CREATURES and Paul Gilbert) sat in with STEEL PANTHER Monday night to play VAN HALEN’s “Hot For Teacher” at the House of Blues in West Hollywood, CA. Footage has been postage at this location:
This was Sobel’s first live appearance since being forced to take a temporary leave of absence from the ALICE COOPER summer tour due to a persistent neck injury. He is expected back with the Cooper band this Fall. Also joining STEEL PANTHER on stage during “Hot For Teacher” were Lance Turner and Joe Lester of famed VAN HALEN tribute band the ATOMIC PUNKS which STEEL PANTHER’s Russ Parrish and Ralph Saenz were long time members of.

As promised, episode #1 from the new STEEL PANTHER web series is online, with new webisodes due to be posted every Friday. Check it out below.
In other news, the band has issued the following update: “Unfortunately the show at Hellraiser in Leipzig on June 12th has been canceled due to logistical difficulties related to the venue change. Hopefully you’ll be able to rock with The Panther at one of our other dates in Germany.”
Steel Panther’s complete tour schedule is available at this location.

Everybody Scream, Heavy Metal’s Back!
Written in the annals of history, carved into the primordial genetic makeup of modern music and stuffed into skin tight trousers is the greatest heavy metal band in the world. The year, 1985, Hollywood California, four high school friends come together and create a band in order to get drunk, get high and most importantly get laid.
Emerging triumphantly from sunset strip, the infamous cess pit of sordid rock and roll decadence Steel Panther was born!

REVIEW AND PICS BY MARKO SYRJALA
Steel Panther from Los Angeles, are well known for their humorous lyrics as well as their exaggerated on-stage personas that parody and exaggerate the 80’s glam metal lifestyle. The band was formed in 2000 and the debut album FEEL THE STEEL came out in 2009. The sophomore release BALLS OUT followed in 2011. By their own words, Steel Panther are “the hottest band out of Hollywood since Motley Crue, Guns N’ Roses and Poison ruled the Sunset Strip” and it does seem that fans of those bands in Finland have accepted Steel Panther as their show here sold out within just few days.
Los Angeles’ glam metal jokesters Steel Panther have learned to celebrate the holidays in their own rockin’ style, which includes –- what else? — call girls and golden showers. So, naturally, they’ve melded the two in an x-rated version of the yuletide classic “The Twelve Days of Christmas,” which the quartet sang a cappella before a recent gig in New Jersey. Check it out in the video below and on FUSE!
