US melodic death metal two piece THE NEOLOGIST has just announced that in addition to recording their sophomore album The Promise of Eternal Separation, they will also be recording an entire SOILWORK tribute album. To get the party started, they will be having a guest drummer who is well known throughout the metal community for their first release from the album, “Shadowchild”. The mystery drummer has not been revealed yet, but stay posted for the official announcement.
THE NEOLOGIST is coming off the release of their debut album The 26 Letters of Your Universe which the band has been giving away for free via their Bandcamp site (http://theneologist.bandcamp.com). Fans can also download all of their covers on their album IN FLAMES We Trust: Volume I which is also on the Bandcamp site. The follow up album, The Promise of Eternal Separation, is set to be released in early 2012, and just like their first album, the band is giving away the entire album for free. Björn andDavid were bonding over what they considered “classic” or not, from rock n roll conspiracies to being arrested in a lobby with nothing but leather pants on. All those scenarios, fictional or real, needed a soundtrack. They also came to think that whether you’re on a metal tour or not, a lot of classic rock songs say it all and can really lend you a helping hand and make you forget about everything, especially when in motion or travelling. The classic escape. The never-ending road trip. The transatlantic night flight. It may sound simple and naive but what it all comes down to is that we all need that soundtrack to feel extra special, whether you have been arrested in a lobby or not.
It didn’t take long before bass player Sharlee D’ Angelo (ARCH ENEMY, SPIRITUAL BEGGARS) joined forces as well as keyboard playerRichard Larsson (VON BENZO) and drummer Jonas Källsbäck (MEAN STREAK). The goal was to reclaim the 70′s/early 80′s sense for classic melody, the forgotten recipe to a timeless song, preferably a song mentioning a city, street name or an exhilarating alcoholic beverage. Anything that will have you spitting out the word ‘classic’. From “Tarot Woman” to “Badlands”, from “Rhiannon” to “Running on Empty”, from “Blind Man” to “Night Moves”, from “Deuce” to “Separate Ways”, from “Elected” to “Set me Free”. The list goes on. It’s all about reclaiming the “classic”. The band is currently unsigned but are looking into recording their debut album this summer.
Swedish modern metallers SOILWORK – who were originally scheduled to head out this April & May supporting SYMPHONY X – have regretfully been forced to cancel their participation on this upcoming North American tour.
Drummer Dirk Verbeuren has issued the following statement:
“Due to recurring issues with a herniated disc in his lower back requiring a prolonged period of resting and healing, our guitarist Peter Wichers is forced to sit out this spring’s North American tour with Symphony X and Nevermore. We did consider hiring a fill-in guitar player, but we’ve decided to stick together as a band and out of respect for our fans, to cancel our participation in the tour. Our apologies to those of you who were hoping to see us. If all goes well, Peter should be healed and ready to hit the road in time for the summer festivals.”
Debuting at #88 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums Chart the week after its July 2010 release,The Panic Broadcast secured SOILWORK’s highest-charting record in the history of the band and marked the return of original guitarist, songwriter & producer Peter Wichers, whose last album appearance was in 2005.
