Legendary Swedish sleaze/glam icon Bosse Stagman, better known as Zinny J Zan, recently released his first solo album in Swedish. The album contains music that’s nothing like he’s done before and is more of a pure rock album. Since Zinny and his music are a long time personal favorite of mine, I decided to hook up with him in order to have an in-depth talk about the new album and find out what’s behind the sudden change of musical direction. He’s backed up my some really well known musicians like bass player Nalle Påhlsson (Therion, Treat,Zan Clan etc.), guitarist Martin Sweet (CrashDiet, Sweet Creatures), and guitarist Simon Roxx Karlsson (re-united Easy Action), so the outcome sounds pretty great if you ask me. I know that the fact the album is entirely in Swedish might scare some fans, but believe me, the music of Stagman on ARE YOU STILL OUT THERE is universal.

Shotgun is the name of the new outfit of what was the legendary Swedish band Shotgun Messiah. The band have played a few shows in Sweden since 2013 and now the band is back with original singer Zinny Zan and drummer Stixx along with new members – guitar player Rob Marcello & bass player Chris Laney – that completes the line-up. Now, 3 years later the guys release a live album called “LIVE – DOWN DECADENCIA DRIVE”. The live material is taken from the Gothenburg show they did back in 2013. Personally, I think it’s a little late to release a live album now when the band was put to rest in 2014. I hooked up with singer Zinny J Zan to talk about the new live album and about why original members Tim Tim and Harry K Cody were not on board this time and why the band did so few shows. Read more about it down below….

STOCKHOLM ROCK OUT -Part II Great White, Keel, Lizzy Borden, U.D.O, Pretty Boy Floyd etc..

STOCKHOLM ROCK OUT -part II

Stockholm Rock Out is a new rock festival in Sweden which is now in its second year. When the first edition of the festival took place on May 1st it was almost disastrous because the giant volcano clouds forced most of the headliners to cancel their appearances but this time all measures worked well without any unexpected problems or last minute changes. By European standards, the band line up in Stockholm Rock Out was somewhat extravagant. The list included many great bands which haven’t been here in ages, like Keel and Tuff, and there were also some unique one off performances like the one with Great White w/ Paul Shortino on vocals and the farewell show of Zinny J. Zan. Like the organizers advertised, this festival is indeed organized for music lovers by music lovers.

MAY 30th, 2010

REVIEW AND PICTURES BY MARKO SYRJÄLÄ

Rarely, if ever, has one festival organization gone through so many difficulties as Stockholm Rockout faced out during this spring. First, there were many cancellations for whatever reasons, even some headliners got canceled, and finally the volcano eruption in Iceland and its ash clouds meant that most of the U.S. bands not reaching Sweden in time. The organizers of Rockout didn’t give up and they decided to organize a small-scale one day event with bands which were now available. The actual Rockout -festival will then be re-arranged for later next September.

Zinny Zan of Zan Clan

July 7th, 2005

Zinny Zan of the Swedish band Zan Clan
Interviewed by Anders Sandvall
Thanks to the band for supplying me with promo pics.
Thanks to Robert at GMR Music Group for setting up the interview.

Zinny Zan is one of the inventors and founders of the Swedish glam/sleaze genre. He has recently released a new album with his friends in Zan Clan so its the perfect time to ask this legend some questions about his long career in acts like Easy Action, Shotgun Messiah, and of course his new album and the band Zan Clan.
