SEPULTURA – guitarist Andreas Kisser

March 16th, 2017

INTERVIEW WITH

ANDREAS KISSER OF SEPULTURA

Sepultura, as we all know, is the famous Brazilian metal export who gained a loyal fanbase all around, including Finland. The Brazilian metallers recently released their latest album MACHINE MESSIAH. The album is definitely one of the greatest and strongest releases of the Derrick Green era. Therefore it was a good time to sit down with Andears Kisser to talk about the new album, the old school Brazilian metal scene, and his old band before Sepultura.

Kreator + Sepultura, Soilwork @ The Circus, Helsinki

February 15th, 2017

THE CIRCUS, HELSINKI

10.02 2017

It’s been a long time since Finland has been treated with such a great package tour as this. Therefore, it is a bit strange that although this show was originally supposed to be in the Old Ice Hall of Helsinki, at the last minute, it was moved to a smaller venue. However, the night with four bands and Kreator as headliner was a successful event. The Circus has a capacity of 1200 people and the show was totally sold out. Metal-Rules.com attended the gig to witness Soilwork, Sepultura and the mighty Kreator in action.

MAX CAVALERA – Cavalera Conspiracy, Soulfly, ex-Sepultura

December 31st, 2016

MAX CAVALERA

INTERVIEW AND LIVE PICTURES BY MARKO SYRJALA

Max Cavalera is the Brazilian vocalist, guitarist, and songwriter who currently plays with Cavalera Conspiracy and Soulfly. He co-founded the acclaimed heavy metal band Sepultura with his brother Iggor Cavalera back in 1984. The band released the album ROOTS back in 1996, which is Sepultura’s most commercially successful album to date. After the following tour, Max left the band and formed Soulfly. Iggor left Sepultura 10 years later and formed Cavalera Conspiracy with Max in 2007. So far, the band has released 3 albums including the latest PANDENOMIUM (2013). 2016 marks the 20th anniversary of ROOTS and to celebrate that, Cavalera Conspiracy announced a series of highly successful shows where the band performed the classic album in its entirely. The sold-out tour reached Finland in early December 2016. I was able to meet Max on the tour bus prior the bands performance. We discussed the ROOTS album, the “Return to Roots” tour, the state of Soulfly, and many other topics including Max’s favorite Lemmy memories.

Brazil is home to many amazing bands, whether you are into death or thrash or punk or hardcore or power metal, a fan will always find something interesting coming from Brazil. One great example from this influential scene, is the band Confronto from Rio de Janeiro. Taking influences from different genres of heavy metal and adding hardcore to their sound, the band has been gathering fans worldwide for the past 15 years. Their latest album, ”Imortal”, was released in South America a bit over 1 year ago, and had legendaries guests like João Gordo [Ratos de Porão], Carlos Lopes [Dorsal Atlântica] and many others, and now in March the album is getting its’ European release, where the band will be coming in September for a tour to promote this terrific album. I sat down with the very friendly lead singer Felipe Chehuan to talk about the band’s history, the Brazilian scene, tours, their plans and much more. Read the rest of this entry »

SEPULTURA RELEASES VIDEO FOR “THE VATICAN”

November 6th, 2013

“The Vatican,” a track off The Mediator Between Head And Hands Must Be The Heart, the new album by Brazilian band SEPULTURA, is now available for online viewing: http://smarturl.it/TheVatican

The translation of the Bible quote (Matthew 10:34) into English from the Latin (the official language of the Roman Catholic Church) in the video’s opening reads: “Do not think I came [to] send peace on earth; I came not to send peace, but a sword.”

“It shows various obscure facets of the church, from corruption to pedophilia, a dark side that many people like to ignore,” states SEPULTURA guitarist Andreas Kisser about the video.  “The actors were very well selected, all with strong and striking expressions.  The video tells the story of a priest who wants to leave the church because of all this dirt, and suffers pressure from the inside not to leave.  It’s rather heavy and tense.”
