Event to be hosted by That Metal Show’s Eddie Trunk and Don Jamieson
Metal Blade Records is excited to announce the latest addition to the 30th anniversary show line up: Sacred Reich! On November 30th, at the House of Blues in Hollywood, CA, thrash legends Sacred Reich will perform a short set in between Gypsyhawk and Armored Saint. The set will serve as a brief preview of the full show Sacred Reich has recently announced for February 23rd, at the Key Club in Hollywood, which will be their first full show in Los Angeles in over 16 years!
SACRED REICH vocalist/bassist Phil Rind comments: “We are excited to be involved in Metal Blade’s 30th Anniversary Celebration. Metal Blade were the first to offer us an opportunity on Metal Massacre 8, which led to a record deal and the release of “Ignorance” and “Surf Nicaragua”. Three of the best records ever Slayer’s “Hell Awaits”, DRI’s “Dealing With It” and COC’s “Animosity” were all on Metal Blade. Brian Slagel was and still is a huge fan and advocate for metal! We are looking forward to saying thank you to Brian and everyone at Metal Blade in the best way possible, loud and fast!”
Additional special guests confirmed for the show include: Amon’s Amarth’s Johan Hegg, Ray Alder of Fates Warning/Redemption, as well as dUg Pinnick of King’s X. The guest musicians will join Armored Saint on stage throughout their set to perform a variety of cover songs. That Metal Show’s Eddie Trunk and Don Jamieson are confirmed to host the event.

SACRED REICH to release “Live at Wacken” CD/DVD on November 20th
Phoenix, AZ’s critically-acclaimed, socially conscious and political speed metal act, Sacred Reich, reunited for several Europeans festivals in 2007. One of those festival appearances happened to be at Germany’s Wacken Open Air. The show was captured in spectacular fashion, in a multi-camera shoot which European festivals have become known for. The final product is finally being made available to purchase as a limited CD/DVD, simply titled Live At Wacken.
Live At Wacken boasts a track listing which features twelve of the band’s most popular cuts from throughout their career, which began in 1985. Tracks include: “The American Way”, “Ignorance”, a cover of Black Sabbath’s “War Pigs”, and of course, “Surf Nicaragua.” The DVD also includes interview footage, as well as other bits of never before seen behind-the-scenes footage.
The video for Surf Nicaragua from Live At Wacken is streaming now at metalblade.com/sacredreich. Pre-orders are also available in both physical and digital formats at that location. Additionally, fans are invited to find a local record store at recordstoreday.com.

Hellfest Festival 2012
@ Clisson, France
15th – 17th June 2012
Review by Kirsty Birkett-Stubbs

Move over Batman – there’s a new symbol dominating the night sky as Hellfest’s mighty H calls brothers to arms for a weekend, that quite frankly, would strike fear into the heart of many a-charging army. As one of the official t-shirt’s states: Keep repeating – it’s only music… it’s only music… it’s only music…

Sacred Reich Interview
with Vocalist Phil Rind
20th July 2012 @ Dublin, Ireland
By Mark Dean
Sacred Reich recently returned to play their first show in Ireland in over 20yrs!
Despite having health problems lead singer Phil Rind took time to chat all things Sacred Reich, family and even touched on Nirvana and Rush in our discussion, after an excellent and energetic show.
Sacred Reich from Phoenix, Arizona is one of the classic bands of the ”second generation” of American thrash metal, alongside the likes of Testament, Forbidden and Vio-lence. Their breakthrough came with the ”Surf Nicaragua” EP (1988), an impressive union of powerful metal riffs and the uncompromising aggression and political commitment of punk. More classic releases, like ”The American way” (1990) and ”Independent” (1993) followed, before Sacred Reich folded in the year 2000. Happily, the band returned to the live scene seven years later and will be making their highly anticipated SRF-debut in 2012 – still featuring their classic line-up of vocalist/bassist Phil Rind, guitarists Wiley Arnett and Jason Rainey and drummer Greg Hall.
Tickets are available at our website: www.swedenrock.com. There you can also find more information about tickets, prices and accommodation.

I did an interview with Wiley Arnett, guitarist for Sacred Reich and The Human Condition in July, right before the show in London and Wacken. Apologies for its lateness, but it was a truly amazing experience to be able to talk to Wiley, who was really humble and appreciative of the fans, as well as being immensely talkative about everything from coffee to political issues to families.
Wacken Open Air 2007
Wacken is a blessed mecca of the whole metal world. Again this year it was entirely sold out when ten thousands of metal manics travelled from all around the world to gather and witness plenty of ass kicking bands. The weather forecast for Wacken didn’t look that promising. The chaotic and muddy mess caused by long and heavy rains rampaged the ground during the whole summer. The festival often provides a survival test to every visitor with its mud and crap. But but gods of metal had seen the light and blessed the whole three day metal inferno with tremendous extreme heat and a sunny weekend. Things could not be better…sun, metal and beer. That combination is nothing but an utter perfect way to enjoy the metallic mayhem at Wacken.
As usual, the true metal commando team from Metal-Rules.Com was there again witnessing a helluva lot of great bands and above all an unexpected huge fire in the main area. Feel, see and enjoy this article.

Wiley Arnett (January 1996)
Interview by EvilG
Here is the very first interview I’ve ever done for Metal-Rules.com.
HUGE thanks to Wiley for taking the time out to answer a few of my questions. I hope you all enjoyed reading it, as much as I enjoyed the opportunity to ask one of my favorite bands some questions. If any bands out there want to see reviews of their product, or if you have any info to pass on to me, e-mail me. I am open to any suggestions, criticisms, or comments, please send them on.
