Fan-filmed video footage of Sacred Oath performing “Ravensong” during their New York City show at Lucky 13 in Brooklyn on February 4th has been posted on YouTube. The concert marked the band’s return to the stage after 18-months in the studio finishing a brand new album for 2017.

US cult power-metal perennials Sacred Oath have just posted a new music video for “Taken” – the first single from their brand new album “Ravensong” – on YouTube. View it here:
SACRED OATH – RAVENSONG
The band members all live in Connecticut, a state where graveyards can be found on just about every street corner, so it’s no surprise that the new music video for “Taken” was shot on an abandoned island in Bridgeport with a cast of creatures from the “other side.” We’re talking Zombies here, nasty ones, and they apparently heed the whims of their siren mistress (played by tattoo model/Instagram starling Leah Jung). Jung lures the band to her isle of the damned where they are condemned to play their classic, hard-hitting metal style for her and her legions – eternally.
“What’s cool is that this video is really a return for us to how the band got started,” says Sacred Oath singer Rob Thorne. “Back in ’85 we would have our bass player crawling out of a coffin drenched in blood to deliver (the band’s signature anthem) “Rising From the Grave” at our live shows and the kids loved it! It’s cool to be back in a horror vibe with the “Taken” video, especially with an album that we’re so excited about.”
Thorne was approached by a former guitar student of his, Jordan Elizabeth Gelber, back in April about producing the video. Her company Starbaby Enterprises in New York was looking for a short film project and it seemed like a great way for both Starbaby and the band to benefit.
“Jordan became a good friend over the years and I always trusted that she had a good sense of what Sacred Oath was all about. It was a no-brainer to bring her on for this video. She’s incredibly ambitious.”
“Ravensong” is the band’s seventh studio album and was released this past Friday September 18th by Angel Thorne Music/Caroline/Universal. “Taken” also premiered this past Friday on the popular heavy metal website Bravewords.com.
US power metal quartet Sacred Oath launched a brand new “Ravensong” website in anticipation of their worldwide album release with Angel Thorne Music/ILS/Caroline/Universal coming September 18th. www.sacredoath.net features art, photography, and music from the new album and the recent string of live performances in the New York metro area.
Pre-order for the “Mastered for iTunes” album began September 4th, at Apple Music and includes an instant-gratification track and a 12-page digital booklet. The album clocks in at over 52 minutes in length and contains 10 new songs.
Sacred Oath is also offering signed “Ravensong” CDs directly on their website www.sacredoath.net. Purchases will ship immediately – a full 2 weeks ahead of the actual street date. Pre-orders on the physical CD include a collectible poster and sticker.
“Ravensong” is the band’s 7th studio album and first worldwide release with Caroline/Universal.
Sacred Oath has just posted an audio stream of “Taken” – the first single from their forthcoming album “Ravensong.” Angel Thorne Music has announced they will release the band’s 7th studio album “Ravensong” September 18th 2015 worldwide via ILS/Caroline/Universal.
“We got adventurous on this one,” says singer-guitarist Rob Thorne, “but it’s still very much an Oath record – melodic and dark. I’d have to say it was the best experience I’ve had making an album since we did the ‘Sacred Oath’ album in 2009.”
Sacred Oath came roaring back to life in 2007 with the release of their second studio album “Darkness Visible” and now that is being commemorated by Metalizer Records with a limited-edition vinyl release on Friday April 25th.
The double-gatefold 2 disc release includes live bonus tracks from the World IndiVisible Tour and is available in both blue and black vinyl. It is the 3rd vinyl release by the band in a partnership with Metalizer Records, following “World On Fire” and “A Crystal Vision.” “Metalizer always does it right,” says bandleader Rob Thorne. “I’m a big vinyl enthusiast and these are editions I’m proud to have in my personal collection.”

The four original members of cult US metal band Sacred Oath are together again for the first time in more than 6 years and have released a video single “Snake Eyes” from the brand new full length album “Fallen” due on May 28th.
The band is celebrating the 25th anniversary of their debut release “A Crystal Vision”, an album that somehow managed to become a cult classic despite going out of print almost immediately after its release in 1988. Singer Rob Thorne reformed the band in 2007 and has since released several albums with Sacred Oath, but “Fallen” is the first full length album since ‘88 to feature Pete Altieri (bass), Glen Cruciani (guitar), Rob Thorne (vocals/guitar) and Kenny Evans (drums) throughout. In a letter to fans posted on their website, Pete Altieri describes the album as “pure magic. I knew this was special, but until I sat down today to listen to ‘Fallen’ mastered and complete, I didn’t realize how much. This is truly a gift from the metal gods to all of us!”
A brand new full-length album from Sacred Oath is scheduled for worldwide release on May 28th of this year. “Fallen” is the 6th studio album from the power metal quartet currently celebrating 25 years in the business.
Produced by lead singer/guitarist Rob Thorne at his studio in Connecticut, all 10 songs were recorded with the original 1988 line-up, including Pete Altieri (bass), Kenny Evans (drums), and Glen Cruciani (guitar). “The four of us haven’t recorded anything together since “Darkness Visible” for a variety of reasons,” says Thorne, who has produced six of the band’s more recent albums. “I threw the idea out there of doing an EP together to celebrate our 25th anniversary, and everyone jumped on board. It quickly escalate! d into a monstrous LP. It’s very exciting.”
Progressive-power-thrash metal underdogs Sacred Oath have released the video “Blood Storm” on YouTube to celebrate their exclusive digital release “Spells and Incantations” on iTunes today. The video contains rare performance clips and photos from the band’s personal archives spanning their 25-year tenure in the metal underground.
“I think perseverance is something to be celebrated,” says Rob Thorne, the band’s singer/guitarist. “It hasn’t been easy for us. It isn’t easy for anybody, really, but 25 years is a long time to hang in this business without the support of a record label. I like to think of us as pure, uncut. Or stupid.”
The best-of collection “Spells and Incantations” is released today as an iTunes exclusive metal album. Two previously unreleased bonus tracks are included. A digipack CD hits stores and other digital outlets on May 29th through Super D and MVD distribution.
Sacred Oath has released a digital 45 – “Revolution” – exclusively through iTunes today March 15th. The format offers a “B-side” track and so a previously unreleased track “Burn Away (Loki’s Song)” is included in the package. This is the first commercially available release of a single from the World On Fire album.
“The world really is on fire,” says the band’s primary songwriter and lead singer Rob Thorne. “Conceptually, we chose to do this album on ‘Dune’ because there are so many parallels with the struggles on our planet here and now, and revolution in this country seems inevitable. It was kind of freaky to see the revolutions here in Wisconsin and also in the Middle East break out just a couple months after the album was released.”
Sacred Oath will release the brand new album World On Fire as an iTunes exclusive on Tuesday October 26th – just in time for Halloween. The deluxe bundle includes 11 songs and a PDF of the cover art, lyrics and liner notes.
The album was produced by singer/guitarist Rob Thorne at his studio in Connecticut during February and March this year. “I couldn’t be happier with how this album turned out,” says Thorne, who has produced all but one of Sacred Oath’s albums. “It was important to me that this album have its own sonic character. It really stands head and shoulders above anything we’ve done yet. I hope the fans will love it.”
This is Sacred Oath’s fourth studio album. Running time is 58:11. Track listing is as follows:
1 . Sweet Agony
2 . Meet Your Maker
3 . The King Must Die
4 . Sandrider
5 . Front Line
6 . Face of Evil
7 . Drums of War

World On Fire marks a return to the concept album format for Sacred Oath. Many of the songs are based on the popular sci fi novel Dune by Frank Herbert. The cover art was painted by famed sci fi artist Michael Whelan (Stephen King, Sepultura, Evile). “This cover is perfect,” said Thorne in a recent interview. “I was introduced to Michael at an Evile concert this summer and knew right away that I wanted to get his work on a Sacred
All other major digital retailers will have the album available for sale on November 9th (worldwide). A digipack CD version with lyric booklet will also be available in North America. No physical release date has been set for Europe, Japan, or South America as of yet.
Sacred Oath are one of those bands that you wish you wouldn’t of missed the boat on back in the mid-80’s. Growing up in that period here in Canada, it was hard to hear new stuff outside of what your friends and you found, what was on the "Power Hour" and of course the main print zines of that time. So better late than never to discover what this band did 20+ years ago and to now discover the new and improved version of the band which are back with a vengeance to more than recapture old glory, but to take the band to the next level. I recently spoke to guitarist and vocalist Rob Thorne about the band’s reformation, rejuvenation and rebirth!
