SABATON – Final show of World War Tour, final battle of Antwerp

August 19th, 2011
SABATON - Final show of World War Tour, final battle of Antwerp.

SABATON - Final show of World War Tour, final battle of Antwerp.

We can now confirm the rumors, Sabaton will play one final show @ Trix/Hof Ter Lo in Antwerp on the 18th of December.

This will be a one-off and we will not bring a setlist or respect any venue curfew.

Last tour we ended in Essen (Germany) and it was a totally magic night, this time the honor to end the tour has come to Belgium and we are sure that this will be the perfect place and country that we will remember when we enter the studio.

The last 5 times Sabaton played Trix/Hof Ter Lo it was sold out in advance so if you do not want to miss the show of the year make sure you get your tickets direct.
Tickets will be released on the 26:th of August.

This show will mark the end of the fantastic 1,5 year long World War Tour and is likely the last chance to hear some of our songs for a very long time since next time we go on tour it will be with a completely new album in our backs.

After this show we will return to Sweden and start working on the next studioalbum which currently has the working name “Kings of War”.

History will be written.

Stay tuned at www.sabaton.net

SABATON – World War Live!

June 10th, 2011
Sabaton - World War Live

Sabaton - World War Live

Swedish epic power metallers SABATON will release their first-ever live album, “World War Live: Battle Of The Baltic Sea” on August 5 via Nuclear Blast Records.

The following updates comes from Sabaton.net.

“Over the years so many people have told us we should make a live-album and finally we fell to the demands of all of you, our fans.

The World War Tour was amazing and we wanted to record it and keep the shows alive forever. So, during the magic night aboard the SABATON Cruise 2010 we recorded the whole show and now we stand ready to release it as the first ever official SABATON live-CD.

And as if it was not enough we also recorded many shows all around Europe and put together a whole CD with mixed songs from various cities.

And finally we decided to release the DVD-recording we did at the first Rockstad: Falun festival 2008 from Falun as a bonus for you who buy the limited edition.

In total it will be over 20 different songs and we have also collected a lot of pictures from the tour and put them in a massive booklet.

We will reveal all details very soon.”

‘The World War Tour” artwork is again designed by Brazilian JOBERT MELLO – SLEDGEHAMMER GRAPHIX (PRIMAL FEAR, PAUL RODGERS, MASAKI MURASHITA, MIDNATTSOL, LEAVES’ EYES, and others), who’s been working with the band since “The Art OF War”, released on 2008 via SOUND POLLUTION/BLACK LODGE and “Coat Of Arms” which was released in Europe on May 21, 2010 via Nuclear Blast Records.

SABATON: PLANS TO PERFORM RE-ENACTMENT SHOW ON NORMANDY BEACH IN 2014

May 19th, 2011
Sabaton

Sabaton

In a recent interview conducted by MetalMatriarch.com during SABATON’s first tour of North America, vocalist Joakim Brodén shared the Swedish war metal band’s plans for places they’d like to play.

MM: Back during the Art of War tour, you performed on the battlefield of Wizna, which is the place that the song “40:1” refers to.  If there was any battlefield or location from one of your songs that you could play, what would it be?

JB: It’s funny you mention Wizna.  At the Orlando show, there was a guy about 50 years old with his son, and actually they came from Wizna all the way to Orlando to see the show.  They were there on that day [we played on the battlefield], which was exactly on the 70th anniversary of the battle.  They staged a military re-enactment during the day; all of a sudden, there were explosions on the battlefield and proper World War II tanks on the field.  That stuff is huge in Poland.

It was not like a metal concert at all.  There were about 10,000 people, and 50% of them were retired people or kids.  It was really cool to see.  That was on the 7th of September.  Then on the 8th of September, once it hit midnight, we started “40:1.”  And they went fucking crazy.

The whole setup was on the field, and there was a download slope toward the stage.  The crash barriers weren’t really holding.  So they had 60 men from the Polish army holding the crash barriers upright.  They were there to watch, really, and some were there in the re-enactment, but they had to be called into service, you know.

[He laughs, then pauses.]

As for your question, I already have it in my mind.  6th of June, 2014.  I want to do it; I’m going to make sure, I don’t know how, but I’m going to making fucking sure it happens.  Pär and I are crazy about that.  We’ve even had preliminary negotiations with the mayors.  We’re also halfway through getting permission to perform at Auschwitz.

But, back to the 6th of June.  Normandy Beach.  On the shores of Western Europe, 1944.  So the 6th of June, 2014 – 70 years again.

We’ve got a lot of people from the military helping us out already – a lot of people who collect stuff.  One guy has two authentic landing crafts that they used during the war.  If we pay the diesel for it, we can use it.  I don’t know how many they fit, probably 40-50 people, so we could possibly get 100 tickets out there to people where they actually enter a landing craft about a mile or two away, sail to sea and then enter straight in onto the beach as the intro [to our concert] runs.  I don’t know how we could get more, but I want more, but at least he promised his two.  We already scouted the location on the beach, so we just need permission now.

Finnish Metal Expo 2011- Helsinki Finland

April 7th, 2011

  fme_logo_b.gif

 The Cable Factory

The 18 – 19th of February 2011

Helsinki, Finland

The annual Finnish Metal Expo was arranged in the old ancient Cable Factory in the heart of Helsinki. Even though the winter wind was blowing in cold from the open sea, thousands of metalheads were crawling to the FME event. Once again the roster of the FME event offered plenty of interesting names. The purpose of the event is to offer a good chance for young and talented Finnish bands to perform in front of a critical metal audience. Besides new talented bands, known and classic names were at present at FME. The Metal-Rules.com squad was, as usual, at the annual Finnish Metal Expo to feel what’s up in the air of the metal world.

SABATON – Drummer Leaves Tour

March 15th, 2011
Sabaton - Coat of Arms

Sabaton - Coat of Arms

THE SHOW MUST GO ON!

Unfortunately our drummer Daniel Mullback had to leave the current tour due to problems with his knees.

But… The show must go on, and this Swedish War Machine cannot be stopped that easy…

We stole Nightmare´s drummer Kevin, did some rehearsals during the day and were able to do the whole show yesterday.

For the last shows we have recruited our old friend Robert Bäck from Falun to handle the drums.

With less then 24 hours to learn a complete Sabaton show we want to dedicate a huge thanks to Kevin who saved the day!

Achtung Panzer, we’ll never fall!

SABATON: METALIZER RE-ISSUE TRACKLISTING REVEALED

February 2nd, 2011
Sabaton - Metalizer (Re-Armed)

Sabaton - Metalizer (Re-Armed)

Available for the first time in North America as non-imports, SABATON’s first four full-length albums will be re-issued by Nuclear Blast on April 14th, 2011.  2007’s Metalizer (Re-Armed), will include four bonus tracks (one live track, a demo track, and a Judas Priest cover) plus a bonus CD of the complete demo track collection for band’s first recording effort, Fist For Fight.

A Swedish power metal sextet that specializes in military history, SABATON bassist Pär Sundström shares the meaning behind the track title “7734,” discusses the band’s relationship with Judas Priest’s Defenders Of The Faith album, and recalls some memories of the Fist For Fight recording sessions:

“When we recorded Metalizer, we had some songs that were written in the studio.  ‘7734’ was one of them.  The song is basically a hymn about the battle of metalheads which are – in the beginning – few in number and they finally become 7,734.  We saw the number written on a calculator upside down which spelled ‘HELL,’ so we named it that way.  Also during the recording sessions for Metalizer, we were asked to do a few cover songs. We did (amongst a few others) the cover of Judas Priest’s ‘Jawbreaker,’ which was one of the songs we felt we could do well and still keep the original touch of it.  The day before we entered the studio to start recording ‘Fist For Fight,’ I remember sitting at Joakim’s place and having some beers.  That evening, the song ‘Hellrider’ was written simply by chance since it was not intended to be recorded.  ‘Hellrider’ then became a standing song in all the future live sets of SABATON and even today, we play it.”

The track listing for Metalizer (Re-Armed) is as follows:

01  Hellrider
02  Thundergods
03  Metalizer
04  Shadows
05  Burn Your Crosses
06  7734
07  Endless Nights
08  Hail To The King

Bonus Tracks:

12  Jawbreaker (Judas Priest Cover)
13  Dream Destroyer
14  Panzer Batallion (Demo Version)
15  Hellrider (Live In Västeras 2006)

Bonus CD:

01  Introduction (Fist For Fight Compilation of Demos)
02  Hellrider (Fist For Fight Compilation of Demos)
03  Endless Nights (Fist For Fight Compilation of Demos)
