At the moment we are still searching for a keyboard player. Until we have found the right guy we will still have Daniel Myhr with us, in digital form, since he has specially recorded all keyboards for us to use on tour.
Therefore, we are not cancelling any shows at all – the war machine of Sabaton will go on just as planned!
The MKII of Sabaton is ready for the next chapter…
To meet the new members for the first time, please have a look at this video:
Swedish metallers SABATON have confirmed the departure of guitarists Oskar Montelius and Rikard Sundén, drummer Daniel Mulback and keyboardist Daniel Mÿhr. Vocalist Joakim Bróden and bassist Pär Sundström will continue the band with new members which will be announced soon.
A statement from Sabaton as posted to their Facebook page reads as follows: “Starting a band at the age of 18 is simple, keeping it intact for 12 years is much harder, and finally we have come to the crossroad where we will go separate ways. Pär Sundström and Joakim Brodén will continue to battle on stage, carrying the banner of Sabaton to further victories. We will always have an eternal bond to each other, created by more than 12 years of friendship and touring, and wish each other long and prosperous lives with families, various projects and musical careers. In the end, all six of us will end up in our own glorious future…”
We are really happy to announce that we are the main headliner of the Przystanek Woodstock festival in Poland.
This is the biggest festival in Europé and our concert will be one of the biggest metal concerts ever made on this planet.
“Carolus Rex”, the new album from Swedish metallers SABATON, will be released in Europe on May 25 via Nuclear Blast Records. The lyrics for the CD deal with the Swedish Empire (referring to the Kingdom of Sweden between 1561 and 1721) and are sung entirely in Swedish.
Commented the band: “For the first time ever we have had an expert to help us out with the theme, the well-known Swedish historian Bengt Liljegren. We have also added some extra time in the studio to find the absolute right sound on ‘Carolus Rex’, and our producer, Peter Tägtgren, says that this album will mark a brand new standard for how a heavy metal album should sound like!”
Liljegren’s previously published works include acclaimed biographies of Adolf Hitler and Karl XII. He also appeared in the popular Swedish TV series “Boston Tea Party”.
“Carolus Rex” track listing:
01. Dominium Maris Baltici
02. Lejonet Från Norden
03. Gott Mit Uns
04. En Livstid I Krig
05. 1 6 4 8
06. Karolinens Bön
07. Carolus Rex
08. Ett Slag Färgat Rött

The album’s release will be followed by a two-year world tour.

SABATON bassist Pär Sundström was forced to sit out several shows on the Canadian leg of the band’s most recent North American tour due to a knee injury.
“World War Live: Battle Of The Baltic Sea”, the first-ever live album from SABATON, was released on August 5, 2011 via Nuclear Blast Records.
Sabaton Interview with vocalist Joakim Brodén, Keyboardist Daniel Mÿhr, Guitarist Oskar Montelius
By Carlos M. Llanas
Sabaton is amongst the most intriguing and promising power metal bands around. They travel a different path than your normal “Slaying Dragons, fucking wenches, and drinking beer” power metal band. That’s what sets them aside from the “norm”. Let’s face it…have any of you ever seen a fucking dragon? I didn’t think so. They take a more realistic approach to the music…and that approach is war, perseverance, nations under turmoil, and the remembrance of a fallen soldier. From the Cliffs of Gallipoli, to the skies of the isles, Sabaton covers it all with remarkable accuracy, outstanding musicianship, and one hell of a live show to boot. I had a chance to talk to the friendly Swedes about their plans for the future, their race against time, their first headlining show in the U.S, Pär Sundström’s health, and their temporary replacement Emil Wigelius. Here is what they had to say!
Swedish power metal superstars SABATON just issued the following statement, revealing first details on the bands upcoming album:
“We can now confirm the rumors, the new SABATON album will be called Carolus Rex and in a few days we will start recording it. At the moment we cannot reveal any information about it, other than that it will be available at the end of May this year. We felt it was time for America to get something of a special show and this time the releaseparty will be in Los Angeles, California. This show will be the only US West Coast show and it will be the world premiere of new songs.
It’s a very cold Friday evening in Camden and upon exiting the tube station approximately 20 minutes before the venue doors open there is an amazing sight to behold. Hordes of fans just wrapped around the venue screaming to get in and witness the might that is Sabaton!
Yesterday, Sabaton raised the roof in a sold-out Trix in Antwerp and the icing on the cake is that the band have been confirmed for GMM2012 next summer. On the back of the release of their brand-new album, they will be ready to write another proud chapter in GMM’s history!
Saying that Sabaton has always been a crowd favourite is undoubtedly an understatement. Their third GMM appearance in 2010 not only blew our socks off; their signing session later that day generated the longest queue we’ve ever seen. When the session was officially over, the band decided to continue the session at the adjoining stand so all the fans could get their stuff signed. Last summer’s first live release World War Live: Battle of the Baltic Sea captures the essence of Sabaton’s live prowess. Next summer they’re coming back armed with their eighth album, now tentatively titled Kings of War.
“After two tours in America, we feel it is now time to complete the conquest,” states the heavy metal sextet formed in Falun, Sweden in 1999 who specialize in war history. “And what better way is there to do it than with a full assault headlining tour?”
Supporting 2010’s fifth studio album Coat Of Arms, SABATON introduced themselves to North American audiences via special performances at South By Southwest, Atlanta’s annual ProgPower Festival, and the 70,000 Tons of Metal cruise. Coat Of Arms debuted at #124 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart and #87 on the Top Hard Music chart and was achieved Gold status in Poland for sales in excess of 10,000 copies. Worldwide first-week chart entries for Coat Of Arms included: Sweden #4; Poland #9; Finland #17; Germany #19; Switzerland #33 and Austria #71. The band‘s first live album, World War Live: Battle of the Baltic Sea, was released earlier this year.
SABATON toured as main support in 2011 for Accept in North America and have performed with Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, & Scorpions in Europe. They continue to play at almost every major European festival. Since 2007, they’ve operated their own 3-day open air festival in Falun, Sweden and sell-out their annual ocean cruise with over 2,000 SABATON fans on board. Their 2011 World War Live tour took them to over 30 countries to play 200 concerts at mainly sold out venues.
In Summer 2012, SABATON will headline Masters of Rock (a 25,000+ capacity festival) and the famous Metalcamp festival in Slovenia. The band has won many awards including a Golden Gods Award from Metal Hammer U.K., various Swedish Metal awards including a Swedish Radio P4 Award, Radio Bandit Award, and two Swedish Grammy nominations.

Sabaton are easily one of the best "newer" power metal bands that have stormed from out of Sweden on an unstoppable mission of global domination. On the eve of the release of the release of the band’s debut live album I got to speak with their bassist, PÄR SUNDSTRÖM, to talk about the live album and see what else is going on with the band.
SABATON - Final show of World War Tour, final battle of Antwerp.
We can now confirm the rumors, Sabaton will play one final show @ Trix/Hof Ter Lo in Antwerp on the 18th of December.
This will be a one-off and we will not bring a setlist or respect any venue curfew.
Last tour we ended in Essen (Germany) and it was a totally magic night, this time the honor to end the tour has come to Belgium and we are sure that this will be the perfect place and country that we will remember when we enter the studio.
The last 5 times Sabaton played Trix/Hof Ter Lo it was sold out in advance so if you do not want to miss the show of the year make sure you get your tickets direct.
Tickets will be released on the 26:th of August.
This show will mark the end of the fantastic 1,5 year long World War Tour and is likely the last chance to hear some of our songs for a very long time since next time we go on tour it will be with a completely new album in our backs.
After this show we will return to Sweden and start working on the next studioalbum which currently has the working name “Kings of War”.
As a preview of the release of their first live album World War Live: Battle Of The Baltic Sea, Swedish war metal sextet SABATON is offering the live version of ‘Cliffs Of Gallipoli’ (from the 2008 album The Art Of War) as a free download.
