NWOBHM legends Raven were back out on the road this fall trekking all across the U.S. in what has to be one of their most comprehensive, if not all encompassing tours in years. The British metal stalwarts now celebrating forty years of history as a metal band are on the cusp of releasing “ExtermiNation” their thirteenth full-length album due this coming February via a collaboration between the band’s current record label SPV and a Kickstarter crowd funded campaign by their die-hard fanbase. We caught up with bassist/vocalist John Gallagher shortly before the band took the stage in Austin, Texas in early October. John previewed some of the new Raven material for us and it sounded loud, lethal and assaulting. John fills us in on the upcoming album “ExtermiNation” as well as “Party Killers”an exclusive covers album for Kickstarter contributors, the band’s recent run-ins with Metallica and more…
(Raven, Pentagram, Deathrow, The Hounds Of Hasselvander, Blue Cheer etc…etc…)
Joe Hasselvander is a real metal drummer icon and has been rocking since 1965 in various bands. Above all Raven and Pentagram have both carved immortal marks on his long career. Therefore it was about time for this Metal-Rules.com journalist to sit down and talk to the true hard working musician who definitely lives up to his legendary status in metal and rock in every aspect.
70000 tons Of Metal is the biggest heavy metal cruise on the planet. It has gained and created a loyal and fanatical following amongst metal fans around the globe in a short few years. Even though there were a lot of discussions, and even some outrage on the official 70000tons forum and social media, about the long silence while waiting to hear about the booking of the bands. However, the whole cruise was a surrealistic experience for journalists and fans alike. Spirits were not dampened by a rainy day which whipped the Caribbean sea and the ship, Majesty Of The Seas, about. The metallic mayhem on the sea sailed from Miami, Florida to Costa Maya, Mexico and back. Here is the brief write-up of all these bands who appeared on the ship.
The Metal Voice recently conducted an in-depth interview with John Gallagher vocalist and bassist for of legendary metal band Raven. John does an unveiling of Ravens latest DVD documentary called “Rock Until You drop, A Long Days Journey which is set for a release in early July 2013. Jävlä Swedenrock, här kommer vi igen. The annual roadtrip to Swedenrock by the Finnish Metal‑Rules.Com team is already the tenth time in a row. The 2010 line‑up presented a wide range of metal and hard rock. Therefore, over 70 bands offered nothing but an utter blast and a helluv an experience for the attendees to enjoy metal and rock. Swedenrock has been successful during the past ten years as the festival has always been sold out. This year wasn’t any exception as the fest was sold out despite the lousy economomic situation worldwide. As mentioned in the first sentence, this is the tenth time in a row when Sweden Rock has been featured on Metal‑Rules.com, so it is quite logical for us to give a real in‑depth article of several bands performing at Sweden Rock. The weather wasn’t ideal compared to previous years. It either rained or was windy with a little sunshine. But we were there for bands, not for having some beach party. We are not able to cover every bloody band, but hopefully you will have a pleasant reading experience… Enjoy or die !!!
