Vocalist Daisa Munhoz and drummer Otávio Nunez – Vandroya

Interviewed by: Anders Sandvall
Thanks to Emil Westerdahl at Inner Wound Recordings for setting up the interview.
Thanks to Inner Wound Recordings for the promo pictures of the band.

BEYOND THE HUMAN MIND is the name of the second album from the Brazilian metal act Vandroya. The album is a concept piece and what the album is about is handled down below in the interview so if you’re interested in what the band has to offer this time continue reading. It has taken the band quite a few years to follow up the debut album ONE (2013) and that was one of the questions we handled. I hooked up with vocalist Daisa Munhoz and drummer Otávio Nunez which was kind to take on this quite long interview and when opportunity knocked I decided to ask Daisa some questions about her involvement in the metal opera SoulSpell.

SoulSpell – bandleader/main composer and drummer Heleno Vale

September 3rd, 2017

SoulSpell Band leader/main composer and drummer Heleno Vale

Interviewed by: Anders Sandvall

Thanks to Cátia Cunha at Against PR for the help.
Thanks to Soulpell for the promo pictures of the band.

SoulSpell is back on the attack with their fourth amazing studio album titled ACT IV – THE SECOND BIG BANG, which is yet another metal opera album jammed with some great power metal music. I had the pleasure of interviewing band leader/main composer and drummer Heleno Vale who shared his thoughts about the new release. We also spoke about the cover songs the band recorded back in 2015 and why they chose those particular songs. Vale was also pretty open about his opinions towards record labels… Since I was interested in hearing more about the amazing set of guest vocalists like Timo Kotipelto, Ralf Scheepers, and Oliver Hartmann, I had Vale tell me the story behind their apperances. I suggest that after reading the intervew you should go and listen to album straight away, it’s really amazing.

Bloodstock Open Air 2016 @ Catton Hall, Derbyshire

Bloodstock Open Air 2016

@Catton Hall, Derbyshire

11th – 14th August 2016

Review by Demitri Levantis

Photography and Additional Reviews by Graham Hilling

Derbyshire is probably the last place you’d expect to find metal. It’s not one of England’s most famous counties, nor has it built up a reputation for a place of art and culture. But within the south of this quaint midlands county, some of the country’s finest music promoters are at work building the county’s reputation as a haven for metalheads.

I have not seen the 2500+ capacity MacEwan Hall sold out for a Metal show in a long, long time. Not even for bands that also pull in the more mainstream crowds like Blind Guardian and Gwar. But Nightwish did it!  At their second concert in Calgary in over 20 years, the place was packed for an extra-ordinary bill of Euro-Metal. Delain and Sonata Arctica have also been through Calgary before and the crowds were out in force to see the triple stacked show. I’m not surprised Nightwish is riding a career high with a triumphant North American tour with their new signer as they just recently won the award for Best Metal album in their homeland of Finland.
