CARNIVORE Guitarist to Perform “30 Years of RETALIATION” Set at Black N’ Blue Bowl 2017 Pre-Party Show, Headlined by CRO-MAGS

May 4th, 2017

Saturday, May 20, 2017 @ Bowery Electric in New York City
Doors @ 3:30pm, $20, All Ages

When Brooklyn, NY thrash metal crossover band CARNIVORE wasfirst formed in 1982 by groundbreaking vocalist Peter Steele, no one could have predicted the influence they would inject into underground heavy metal culture, or the legacy Steele would carry on into Type O Negative. The raw energy of their aggressive and often shocking, violent live assaults reverberated beyond the walls of the New York City clubs they frequented, creating an impact acknowledged throughout the metal community even today.

CARNIVORE attacks once again on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at Bowery Electric in New York City (327 Bowery) as part of the Black N’ Blue Bowl 2017 Pre-Party Show, featuring headliners Cro-Mags.

Retaliation era guitarist Marc Piovanetti a.k.a. “Marc Carnivore” will present “30 Years of Retaliation” and celebrate the life of Peter Steele by performing a set of tracks from the record, including “Sex and Violence”, “Jesus Hilter”, “S.M.D.” and others. Marc will perform vocals and guitar alongside Adam Tranquilli (Bloodfeast, Retaliation) on guitar and backing vocals, Jake Blochinger (Circus of Steele, The Banner) on drums, and Paul LaPlaca (THOR, Circus of Steele) on bass and backing vocal. This is the first time any type of full CARNIVORE set will be performed by an original member since Peter Steele’s passing.

Limited tickets for the event are nearly sold out and are available at the door and via Tickets are $20 and the show is all ages. Doors open at 3:30pm.

Marc Carnivore says: “I’d like to thank the Black N’ Blue Bowl for hosting this year’s first official anniversary set celebrating 30 years of Peter Steele’s crossover masterpiece, Retaliation! This incredible opportunity to finally stage my favorite musicians and perform a long-awaited showcase of songs only from CARNIVORE‘s Retaliation, is literally a dream come true.
I’ve been trying to plan a proper tribute to Peter Steele’s legacy ever since his untimely passing in 2010. I never got a chance to thank Peter for his incredibly positive influence on both my music and my personal life, so this show really means a lot to me. In my opinion, I think it’s already kicked off the 2017 anniversary celebration worldwide. Every day fans from Europe, Asia, South America, Brooklyn, Vinnland and just about everywhere else ask me which songs we’re going to play and what song we’re going to open with. Aside from myself, there’s only one other surviving original member of CARNIVORE, so I feel it’s an important duty to carry on the legacy of the band. This performance is where CARNIVORE‘s fans, both young and “vintage”, can finally witness the power and madness of Peter’s legendary (and legendarily controversial) personal diary of thrash and mosh, live, in the flesh. I’ll also be singing lead vocals at the show for the first time ever! So please wish me luck, and I’ll see ya’ 5/20… Children of Technology!”
Black N’ Blue Bowl’s “Cuzin” Joe Cammarata adds: “We are thrilled to be hosting the 13thyear of the Black N’ Blue Bowl in New York City, and are especially excited about the “30 Years Of Retaliation” set at the pre-show. Peter Steele had deep roots in the New York hardcore scene having been involved in the iconic Agnostic Front Cause For Alarm album and having played so many CBGB matinees. His legacy lives on and we look forward to celebrating his life on May 20.”

Black N’ Blue Productions is run by “Cuzin” Joe Cammarata, Freddy “Madball” Cricien and friends, and it is the Hardcore production company. BNB events are already legendary for bringing back the best of the old, and ushering in the new; whether presenting the sold-out Black N’ Blue Bowl, or regular gigs and parties – bands, DJs and fans converge. Peter Steele

Last year the musical world was dealt a serious blow when gothic metal titan Peter Steele tragically passed away at the age of 48. While Peter may be gone, his music and his legacy live on, and they continue to inspire musicians around the world.

To honor Peter’s memory on the anniversary of his passing, and lead a new generation of metalheads to his music, heavy metal news site has teamed up with a dozen underground bands from across the globe to release an exclusive tribute album. The tribute, entitled “All For None, None For All: A Tribute to Peter Steele,” was done in collaboration with Dan Mitchell of Beneath The Woods Studio and features twelve stellar cover songs from many stages of Peter’s career in both Type O Negative and Carnivore.

The songs covered, which include interpretations running the gamut from depressive rock to power metal to death metal and many stops in-between, are as follows:

1. Auvernia – “I Don’t Wanna Be Me”

2. Fairytale Abuse – “Black No. 1”

3. In.verno – “Everything Dies”

4. Dead Shape Figure – “Dead Again”

5. Revilement – “Sex and Violence”

6. Emancer – “Girlfriend’s Girlfriend”

7. A Band of Orcs – “Green Man”

8. Enthrope – “Wolf Moon”

9. Stabbingback – “Halloween in Heaven”

10. Dark Hound – “Life Is Killing Me”

11. Autumns Eyes – “Love You To Death”

12. Blind Greed – “Christian Woman”

A final track listing is still being determined.

Discussing his own exposure to Type O Negative, Fairytale Abuse vocalist Simon Pederson explained, “I remember very clearly when one of my friends introduced me to Type O Negative back in the early 90´s. I was quite impressed by the ambiance and melancholia of the music but even more by the depth and character of Peter Steele´s vocals. Since then their albums still regularly find their way to my CD player.” Simon then went on to add, “Peter Steele is for us without doubt one of the most significant forefathers within the entire melodic metal genre. So when being asked to deliver a song for his tribute we were doubtless that we had to participate and are honored to do so.”

The tribute includes a complete digital booklet including words from the band members themselves about Peter’s influence.

“All For None, None For All: A Tribute To Peter Steele” will be available in digital format through for a small price, required to cover the mechanical licensing fees and transaction fees. content manager Ty Arthur further commented, “Ideally, we wanted to give this tribute away for free and let it spread like wildfire, but when distributing cover songs there are licensing fees involved since the original compositions belong to the artist and/or label. This tribute is meant to honor Peter Steele and Type O Negative’s impact on his fans and the metal landscape. We do not intend to make a penny off of this release and any earnings we may have at the end of the day will be donated to charity.
