The Australian Metallers of PEGAZUS have just returned from their very successful European headlining club tour, after being away from the European live-scene for 13 years. Founding member and guitarist Johnny Stoj about being back in Europe after so many years:
” I can only say that I have been overwhelmed by all the great responses from the fans during this tour. We’ve got such a warm “welcome back” and it’s the best feeling in the world to be back on those stages again. We definitely will be back in Europe soon !”. And vocalist Justin Fleming about the tour, which was for him the first time in Europe : ” I had a blast ! Europe kicks ass and you can be sure that Pegazus is fired up now ! We have proven to be back in business with a great new album and this great tour. I thank the fans for sticking with us during all these years and we will not disappoint you. We will keep touring, hopefully we will be back in Europe very soon and we’re also looking to all possibilities in other parts of the world. So, tell the promoters in your country to contact our management and the Thunder From Down Under will destroy some stages in your country as well !
Just before they left for Europe, PEGAZUS filmed the video for “ROAD WARRIOR”. The song has been taken from the band’s latest album “In Metal We Trust”, which was released on April 15, 2011 through Black Leather Records. The worldwide distribution is in hands of the German company TWILIGHT VERTRIEB.
The “Road Warrior” video can be seen at below. The video was filmed on location in Melbourne, Australia in the same location and on the very same road that was used for the filming of the Australian classic movie “MAD MAX”. It was directed again by Aaron McLoughlin & Judd Hyland, who were also responsible for the bands “Haunting Me” video, released earlier this year.
PEGAZUS is :
Justin Fleming – Lead Vocals
Johnny Stoj – Guitars and Vocals
Cory Betts – Bass
Ange Sotiro – Drums
The Australian Metallers of PEGAZUS have just announced some very special news concerning the touring line-up for the upcoming shows for the “In Metal We Trust” tour.
Due to the fact that both Ange Sotiro (Drums) and Cory Betts (Bass) will not be available for touring duties because of serious working-related issues, the band has asked 2 well-known names from the past to join the band for the upcoming shows in Melbourne and Europe !
Ange Sotiro will be replaced by no one other than co-founder of Pegazus and former drummer Robbie Stoj ! Johnny and Robbie Stoj created Pegazus in 1993 and Robbie was the drummer from it’s beginning till 2003, when he had to unfortunately leave the band due to a serious hand injury. In the past few months he has felt very comfortable and back into the groove of being back behind the drum-kit again and will now replace Ange for the upcoming shows. Robbie Stoj comments on the recent events : ” Looking forward to getting back to Europe, seeing old and new friends and fans. Great to be back touring, especially with Pegazus. This line up has got a lot to be seen to be believed. These will be really great shows. ”
And the surprises will continue as Cory Betts will be replaced on bass by the former Pegazus vocalist Rob Thompson ! After Rob left the band in 2008, he always stayed in close contact with his former band-mates. The band knew that Rob is a great guitarist and bass-player as well, so without any doubts he was asked to replace Cory Betts for the tour. Rob Thompson about his “return” for the upcoming shows : ” When I was asked if I was interested to do these shows with Pegazus as their bass player, it was a no-brainer for me. I have always loved the band and it makes no difference to me if I’m the lead singer or the bass player. Being on stage with those 4 guys is all that matters and it’s a unique opportunity which I never thought would happen. The rehearsals so far have shown already that this line-up is gonna kick some ass and you’d better not miss this ! ”
It has taken the band 13 years to finally return to Europe and the excitement is overwhelming. Founder and guitarist Johnny Stoj comments on the tour and the two guest-appearances from Robbie Stoj and Rob Thompson : “It’s definitely been a long time coming and I can’t wait to finally be back in Europe rippin’ it up on stage with the boys. Having both Robbie and Rob on this tour is going to be a BLAST !”
Also vocalist Justin Fleming is thrilled with all the recent happenings : “I’m really pumped to go to Europe and destroy some PA’s over there. I hope the fans will not miss the opportunity to see this very special line-up. For Rob and myself, it will be the first time to hit the stages in Europe and being able to do that with this line-up will be an experience none of us will ever forget. ”

Guitarist and founding member Johnny Stoj about this news : ” Recently, we were hit with some unexpected situations which were unfortunately out of our hands. We feel very disappointed that the band won’t be in Europe for this summer as planned for our club shows tour and festivals appearances. Now we have to wait a few more months before we can hit the European stages and do what we love to do best! This upcoming January 4, 2011 we remember the 25th anniversary of the passing of Thin Lizzy’s Phil Lynott. The Australian Heavy Metallers of PEGAZUS would like to contribute to keep the memory of this legendary rocker alive. Therefore, they have decided that on January 4 their song “Ballad Of A Thin Man” will be available for free download at the following location : http://thinman.metalrevelation.com/
The song “Ballad Of A Thin Man” has been taken from PEGAZUS’ album “The Headless Horseman”, which was released in 2002 through Nuclear Blast.
Founding member of the band and songwriter/singer of the song Johnny Stoj about Phil Lynott, Thin Lizzy and “Ballad Of A Thin Man” :
“The PEGAZUS song ‘Ballad Of A Thin Man’ was written just over 10 years ago around the middle of the year 2000. A month before that we were asked by our record label if we would like to contribute a cover song of Thin Lizzy for an up coming tribute album, so of course we said yes and ended up recording ‘Warriors’ and submitted that for the tribute CD.
But after recording that cover song, it actually dawned on me that we needed to do something that was more than just covering a Thin Lizzy song, I mean this is a band that all of us in PEGAZUS grew up listening to as huge fans, and the inspiration and influence that I personally got as a songwriter and musician myself just from listening to Thin Lizzy and Phil Lynott’s songs was indescribable. That’s when I knew that I had to create an original song that was a real tribute and a form of true respect for one of the world’s greatest ever rock n’ roll heroes.
The music in ‘Ballad Of A Thin Man’ is meant to capture the typical Lizzy attitude with the riffs and twin guitar harmonies and the lyrics were simply created into an original story made from Thin Lizzy’s song titles and some of Phil’s cool song characters like Johnny The Fox and Jimmy The Weed.
The very first demo version of this song was actually sent to Ms Philomena Lynott back in 2000 and the response I personally got back in letter was ever so praiseful for the song, even suggesting that, “If Philip were alive he would love it too”, put simply, I was so happy and over the moon.
Anyway, the song wasn’t meant to be released as a PEGAZUS song but our record label at the time insisted strongly that it be included on our band’s studio album that we were also recording at that time, so it was released officially on our album ‘The Headless Horseman’ in 2002.
So many years have passed since and so many requests still to hear the song have surfaced again, so we have decided that seeing that it is a special moment ahead this coming 4th January 2011, it’s the 25th anniversary of Philip’s passing and a celebration of his life.We would love to share this special tribute song of ours with all fans of Philip Lynott, Thin Lizzy and just rock fans in general with this absolute free download of BALLAD OF A THIN MAN.
Enjoy the tune, rock hard and remember to raise a glass in memory of Philip, “The Emerald Isle’s Rocking Renegade!”

Has it really been two years since PEGAZUS played in Sydney? Did I miss a gig during one of my European adventures? Doesn?t time fly. After getting through what felt like a cerebral haemorrhage only two hours earlier, I picked up my little digital camera (I avoided my SLR as I still have 30 rolls of film to develop) and managed to drag myself to the gig. Ah, the wonders of modern drugs.
