There are famous artists, there are legendary ones – and there is Ozzy Osbourne. Not only is “the Prince of Darkness” one of hard rock’s most iconic characters, he has also remained at the very top of his career for longer than any of his peers. We are proud to announce that Ozzy Osbourne will make his only Swedish appearance in 2011 at Sweden Rock Festival!
His career took off on Friday the 13th of February 1970, with the release of Black Sabbath’s eponymous debut – the Big bang in heavy music history. Until 1978 the band would release another seven albums featuring Ozzy’s uniquely scornful voice over ominous Doomsday riffs, in countless immortal tracks like “Paranoid”, “Iron man” and “Sabbath bloody sabbath”. 1980 saw the arrival of the singer’s solo debut “Blizzard of Ozz”, another landmark release establishing the characteristic Ozzy sound with tough riffs combined with strong melodies. In the following years Ozzy’s status has grown to Olympic proportions. Events like the reunion of the original Black Sabbath and the controversial reality show “The Osbournes” have been commercial triumphs.
However, his prime achievements remain the albums themselves. In 2010, “Scream” materialized as Ozzy’s tenth studio release, featuring the single “Let me hear you scream”. The latter is the newest addition to an array of classic songs including “Crazy train”, “Mr. Crowley”, “Bark at the moon” and “No more tears”. To name but a few. His recent show at the Stockholm Globe Arena sold out completely soon after the tickets were released and was unanimously hailed by the press, proving Ozzy is as pivotal as ever to the world’s rock and metal scene.
It is this heavy metal titan that in June 2011 makes his very first appearance at Sweden Rock Festival. And his mind is setting on putting on a stellar show. As Ozzy himself puts it in an upcoming Sweden Rock Magazine cover story: “I would pay to see my fans. I love meeting them and making sure they have a good time.”

Ozzy Osbourne told QMI Agency in Toronto, Ontario, Canada on in May that Ronnie James Dio‘s ultimately fatal battle with stomach cancer hit close to home.
“As soon as I heard I heard he had been diagnosed with cancer, I sent him some encouragement,” Osbourne said. “Having been through that situation myself with (my wife) Sharon when we were doing (the reality TV show) ‘The Osbournes’, it’s always somebody over there. When it lands at your doorstep you’re like, ‘What do you do? How do you get round this?’ When Sharon got (colon) cancer, I’d never known anyone who survived. I thought it was bullshit when they told you, ‘They can survive.’ I just thought they were trying to smooth me over. And she got over it.”
Osbourne added that he ran into BLACK SABBATH/HEAVEN & HELL drummer Vinny Appice at the Revolver Golden Gods Awards show in early April and inquired about Dio‘s health.
“I didn’t get a chance to see him but I was talking to the drummer Vinny, and I said, ‘Did he get my message?’ ‘I don’t know,’ he said.’ And I said, ‘Well, tell him to keep up the fight.’ Then on the weekend, we heard he had passed away, which is sad. He had a great voice. People thought that me and him were at war. At first, I suppose a bit of theatrics would be involved, but I mean it’s been 30 years.”
The deaths of Dio and SLIPKNOT bassist Paul Gray are the latest that have stunned the heavy rock world in the last few months. AVENGED SEVENFOLD drummer James “The Rev” Sullivan died last December, while TYPE O NEGATIVE frontman Peter Steele passed away in April.
Ozzy, who knew or had a passing acquaintance with all four artists, told The Pulse of Radio it’s sad to see so many musicians pass away in such a short period of time. “I mean, of late everyone’s dropping dead,” he said. “This happens every so often, you know. I’m only hoping my number don’t come up soon. It’s what happens, you know. You hear me talking, I’m lucky I’m not one of the dead ones, ’cause I used to — I mean, Ronnie James Dio didn’t have any problems, but when there’s drugs involved or alcohol…I should have died a thousand times.”

According to Burbankleader.com, a limited edition wine will be released Sunday in honor of Burbank native Randy Rhoads, who was the lead guitarist for OZZY OSBOURNE and QUIET RIOT before he was killed in a plane crash while on tour with Osbourne in 1982.
The Rhoads special edition 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon will be unveiled during a tasting party from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday at the D’Argenzio Winery in Burbank, home to the Rhoads and D’Argenzio families.
The special edition wine is a way to honor her brother’s legacy, music and life, said Kathryn Rhoads D’Argenzio.
“He grew up here and is still very revered in the music industry,” she said. “This is something I can do to keep his memory alive.”

Gus G. is featured in the third issue of the gothic comic book series Eternal Descent, slated for publication later this month. “Llexi Leon really caught my attention when I met him at NAMM, and he described his vision of combining actual rock dudes in his comic book series and doing an issue with each one,” explains Gus G. “I immediately asked him if we can be in one of his books and that’s how the whole thing started. It’s incredible! I feel Llexi has done a great job in capturing all of the band members’ characters.”

His highly intricate guitar style exhibits the many influences corralled to create his intense sound – from classical, flamenco, electronica, and ambient genres to the more prominent genres of rock and metal. His main aspirations are bringing stories to life through escapism. He utilizes everyday events and his vivid imagination to drive him to create more avenues for his multimedia enterprise.
According to Digitalspy.com, Colin Farrell has reportedly agreed to star as OZZY OSBOURNE in a upcoming biopic of the rock legend’s life.
Despite the 61-year-old Black Sabbath frontman’s desire to be played by an unknown from his home city of Birmingham, Perez Hilton reports that the 34-year-old Crazy Heart star has signed on for the role.
A source said: “At least Colin and Ozzy are on the same page when it comes to using four-letter words! Colin drinks, he smokes, he womanises. He’s just a sleeve tattoo away from being a real rock star.”
Hilton went on to express his approval at the casting, saying: “The more we think about it, the more we think that he’ll nail it!”
DEBUTS AT #4 IN THE U.S.; ALBUM IS #1 IN GREECE AND ALSO LANDS IN TOP TEN ON CHARTS IN FINLAND, JAPAN, NORWAY, CANADA AND GERMANY
ALBUM’S FIRST SINGLE “LET ME HEAR YOU SCREAM” IS NOW #1 ON BOTH ACTIVE ROCK CHARTS AND STILL #1 AT MAINSTREAM ROCK FOR THE 5TH WEEK.
SCREAM–OZZY OSBOURNE’s first album in three years and 10th studio album overall–has entered the charts in the Top Ten in seven countries. Beyond earning the #1 slot on the charts in Greece, SCREAM‘s chart entries include: U.S., #4; Finland, #3; Japan #4 (international chart, #11 on combined chart); Norway, #5; Canada, #4; andGermany, #7. In his native England, SCREAM is at #12; it also is #11 in Australia. The acclaimed album (see quotes below) was released June 22 via Epic Records, with first single “Let Me Hear You Scream” now #1 on both Active Rock charts and still #1 at Mainstream Rock for the 5th week.
Just before SCREAM was released, the rock icon hosted a Sunday afternoon in-store CD signing at Amoeba Music in Los Angeles (June 20). The first 600 fans who purchased a copy were also given a free ticket to that night’s 10:00 PM House of Blues show. OZZY and his band–new guitar player Gus G., bassist Blasko, drummer Tommy Clufetos and keyboardist Adam Wakeman–raised the roof with a red-hot performance encompassing new material and his many classics.
The multi-platinum, Grammy Award-winning, Rock and Roll Hall of Famer recorded most of SCREAM at his Los Angeles home studio, The Bunker. It was produced by OZZY and Kevin Churko, both of whom did the same honors for OZZY’s 2007 worldwide million-seller Black Rain. OZZY co-wrote all the songs, primarily with Churko.
OZZY will embark on an 18-month world tour in support of SCREAM. His U.S. dates will kick off with an August 12 performance at the 70th anniversary of the Sturgis motorcycle rally in South Dakota before he launches this year’s OZZFest on August 14. The six OZZFest dates will feature the main stage line-up with full sets from Ozzy, Mötley Crüe, Rob Halford, DevilDriver and Nonpoint. Second stage headliners and six-time OZZFest veterans Black Label Society will be joined by Drowning Pool,Kingdom of Sorrow, and Goatwhore, Skeletonwitch, Saviours and Kataklysm. Each OZZFest date will include 13 bands on two stages with music beginning at 1:00 PM. In addition, concert-goers can once again visit the OZZFest “Village of the Damned” featuring a mix of interactive activities, shopping and entertainment throughout the venue concourses.
Here’s some early critical praise for SCREAM:
“Oz is as sharp as a dagger and at the top of his headbanging skills for Scream. His voice is clear, and he belts every song with conviction. The opening tune, ‘Let It Die,’ sets the bar. This is metal music that begs for arena play, where the sounds of heavy bass, cowbell wallops and guitar power chords can expand. Ozzy’s vocals are as good as they get as he mixes his controlled scream with funky swagger. That sweat-and-danger attitude carries into ‘Let Me Hear You Scream,’ which combines thrash metal with a tempo that would allow ‘Scream’ dance-hall success…This is heavy, stairway-to-hell music that demands more volume than your ears should hear.”
–Dan Aquilante, New York Post , June 15, 2010
“The highlight is the fist-pumping first single, ‘Let Me Hear You Scream,’ on which, against a blitzkrieg of snarling guitars, the Ozzster works up a real rebel yell.”
–People Magazine, July 5, 2010
” Metal master Ozzy Osbourne thrashes, roars and rocks on a strong batch of tunes…”
—Mario Tarradell, DallasMorning News, June 21, 2010.
“…a glorious, imaginative effort by by Osbourne, quite possibly his best album release since 1981′s Diary of a Madman.” (4 stars)
—Patrick Prince, Goldmine Magazine, July 2, 2010
“…this is the most invigorated and relevant Ozzy’s sounded in years…cuts like “Crucify” and “Soul Sucker” [are]… bristling with a brutality and energy that rockers half Ozzy’s age have trouble mustering…his best album in more than 15 years.”
–Jason Ferguson, SHOCKHOUND.COM, June 22, 2010
Jonny Greatrex from Sundaymercury.net is reporting:
OZZY OSBOURNE will snub a host of Hollywood superstars as he searches for an actor to play him in a movie about his life.
The film will chart the former BLACK SABBATH singer’s early life, including his heavy booze sessions and the tough Aston upbringing which led to him doing time in prison.
It has been rumoured that A-listers Johnny Depp, Colin Farrell and Jack Black have been considered for the role, with Depp a hot favourite.
But family man Ozzy has turned his back on Tinseltown’s finest. Instead, he wants a real-life Brummie to take the role, preferably a street kid from the back alleys of the city.
And he says he may even launch an X-Factor style open audition to give youngsters from his hometown the chance to achieve his level of superstardom.
“I’d like to get a Birmingham guy to play the young lad in it because Americans can’t do a good Brummie accent,” he told the Sunday Mercury before taking to the stage at Birmingham Town Hall last night.
“I don’t want a Johnny Depp or someone from the Hobbit films. I want someone who knows Birmingham.
“I’m from Birmingham, and it would be good to get someone from Birmingham to play me.
Legendary BLACK SABBATH singer Ozzy Osbourne appeared on the nationally syndicated radio show “Rockline” Monday night (June 21) with host Bob Coburn. During the appearance Ozzy shed light on the nature of his current relationship with SABBATH guitarist Tony Iommi, following a recently settled lawsuit over the use of the BLACK SABBATH name.
In response to a caller’s question, Osbourne revealed the last time he spoke to Iommi. Osbourne said, “I spoke to Mr. Iommi just the day after Ronnie James Dio’s funeral.” Osbourne went on to say, “I’m going to England tomorrow and I hope to meet up with him and have a chat with him about old times.”
Ozzy also blasted the Westboro Baptist Church’s protest of Ronnie James Dio’s funeral. “I thought it was in such bad taste that those people had those banners about Ronnie James Dio. That’s disgusting. They say that we’re the anti-christ. Well, what makes them any better?”
In an new interview with AOL’s Noisecreep, Osbourne was asked if he will reunite with BLACK SABBATH again. “I am hoping,” he replied. “Tony [Iommi] and I spoke a few days ago. It was, ‘Let’s get together? Sure, mate!’ I talk to [drummer] Bill Ward every week. He is one of my dearest friends. We did a song. We are trying to do an album. It might not work out, but I’ve learned to never say never anymore.”
In advance of his new album, Scream, OZZY OSBOURNE took over the Sunset Strip with two record release events yesterday (Sunday, June 20th).
That afternoon, the rock icon hosted an in-store signing at Amoeba Music on Sunset Blvd. in Hollywood. Later that night, some lucky fans joined Ozzy for a private record release playback and rare club performance down Sunset Blvd. at the House Of Blues.
The first 600 fans in line who purchased a copy at Amoeba Music also received a free ticket to that night’s House Of Blues performance.
Ozzy’s setlist was as follows:

‘Mr. Crowley’

OZZY OSBOURNE filmed a video for his new single, “Let Me Hear You Scream”, last month with renowned Swedish director Jonas Åkerlund, who has previously worked with METALLICA, SATYRICON, RAMMSTEIN, MADONNA and THE PRODIGY, among others. According to RollingStone.com, fans should expect the clip to be “an over-the-top spectacle . . . replete with fake blood and giant injectable needles.”
“Let Me Hear You Scream” had its world premiere, during a prison riot scene, on “CSI: NY” on April 14 on the CBS television network.
The multi-platinum, Grammy Award-winning Rock and Roll Hall of Famer recorded most of “Scream” at his Los Angeles home studio, The Bunker, and co-wrote all the songs, primarily with Churko. Notably, the album marks the first appearance of Ozzy’s new guitar player, Gus G. (FIREWIND, ex-DREAM EVIL, ARCH ENEMY). Ozzy’s band also features bassist Rob “Blasko” Nicholson, drummer Tommy Clufetos (ex-ROB ZOMBIE, ALICE COOPER) and keyboardist Adam Wakeman.
Ozzy will embark on an 18-month world tour in support of “Scream”, which will include six Ozzfest dates in August.
OZZY OSBOURNE will guest on the nationally syndicated radio show “Rockline” with host Bob Coburn on Monday, June 21 at 8:30 p.m. PT / 11:30 p.m. ET. Fans are encouraged to speak with Ozzy by calling 1-800-344-ROCK (7625). For more information, visit RocklineRadio.com.
Kelly Garni (ex-bassist for QUIET RIOT) and great friend of the legendary and sorely missed Randy Rhoads (ex-OZZY OSBOURNE, Quiet Riot) along with Kelle Rhoads (Randy’s brother) have made a major announcement for fans across the globe. A museum dedicated to the legacy of Randy Rhoads is set to open later this year in Corona, California. The location was picked as it’s just a short distance away from Randy’s tomb in southern California. Randy’s polka-dot flying V is currently on display at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland.
Check out video of the announcement below:
Randy Rhoads was killed in a freak airplane accident while on tour in Florida on the morning of March 19, 1982.
As previously reported, 30th Anniversary Sony Legacy Editions of Ozzy’s first two legendary solo albums featuring Randy Rhoads – Blizzard Of Ozz (1980) and Diary Of A Madman (1981) – are due out in the fall.
“They definitely are coming out this year,” Sharon Osbourne told BraveWords.com recently. “They are coming out for (US) Thanksgiving and they will be on the market then. It’s going back to the original recordings with (Bob) Daisley (bass) and (Lee) Kerslake (drums). And there will be a lot of stuff that you haven’t heard before in the packages. Like certain conversations that were going on in the studio with the guys just messing around while the tape was still rolling. All of that will be added into it.”
Sharon also revealed that there’s also talk of some video footage in the archives with Randy Rhoads. “There’s two shows that we have in the archives that we are working on right now. Of course in those days, the tapes were like twenty minutes and then you had to change the tape. So we’re trying to clean it up, make sense of it. So we are working on it, along with another film we have of Randy. It will all be boxed together and it should be a great piece to have for a real fan. It will be an amazing piece.”
