The long time British thrash metal veterans Onslaught have constantly visited up here in Finland. The five piece visited the Masters Of Metal event last year with 1349, Bibleblack and others. The headlining tour of their own was just a matter of time. When the latest brutal piece of metal titled SOUNDS OF VIOLENCE saw the light of day Onslaught embarked upon a massive European tour with a couple of supports such as Suidakra and Final Depravity. Before Onslaught hit the road, the co-founder and original drummer Steve Grice pulled out and was replaced by the former Extreme Noise Terror/Desecration skinman.
A world premiere of the brand new video from UK thrash legends ONSLAUGHT is available via online video juggernaut Metal Injection now!
The title track to the band’s brutal new studio album, the video for “Sounds Of Violence” is ONSLAUGHT’s first official video in twenty years, the last being from the band’s 1990 full-length In Search Of Sanity. “The Sound Of Violence,” stated ONSLAUGHT vocalist Sy Keeler “was inspired by the horrendous loss of over 150,000,000 souls throughout the 20th Century, instigated by religious tyranny and dictatorial madness of humankind. The lyrics echo the horrific realities of war and remarkable resistance endured by our fellow men and women which continues to this day. Wake up world; welcome to a land of devastating brutality where conflict is a part of everyday life. This is the Sound Of Violence.” The video was filmed and edited By Lukas Hambach of Bloodwork Entertainment (Destruction, Gamma Ray) and produced by Tommy Morriello and Thosten Lütje.
ONSLAUGHT’s fifth studio album Sounds Of Violence was released in North American in early February via Germany’s AFM Records. The now critically-acclaimed album falls perfectly in line with their massive 2007 comeback album Killing Peace, yet broadens the classic ONSLAUGHT style once again, helping the band maintain an original edge. Recorded and produced in the renowned Hansen-Studios (Destruction, Heathen, Mercenary), the blazing record boasts ten brand new original tracks, as well as a cover of Motörhead’s classic “Bomber,” featuring guest appearances by Phil Campbell (Motörhead) and Tom Angelripper (Sodom).
ONSLAUGHT members Sy Keeler and Nige Rockett are available for interviews to North American journalists via Earsplit anytime via phone or email. Please get in touch for more information, and stay tuned for more ONSLAUGHT updates as the band prepare to assault North America full-on later this year!

The British legendary thrash metal five piece Onslaught reunited five years ago. The band did plenty of gigs all around. As a result of the reunion, the triumphant KILLING PEACE saw the light of day. The band’s newest opus SOUNDS OF VIOLENCE takes their brand of thrash metal to into a more extreme phase, presenting the pure true and violent thrash metal to the bone. Onslaught hasn’t given up an inch. The British thrashers will soon be embarking on gigs and festivals. It is a huge pleasure to have a chat with one of the founding members of Onslaught, Nige Rockett. He tells more about why the band chose to work with Jacob Hansen and why the band signed a deal with AFM. Time now for METAL FORCESSS.
Masters of Metal is another addition to the map of the Finnish metal festivals. Originally the event was planned to be carried out in a bigger venue. However, because of the unexpected low ticket sales the whole MOM event was switched to a smaller venue and a couple of bands got dropped from the bill. However the line-up looked pretty solid which should have drawn more people to the event. After all approximately 300 people crawled out to the MOM event. Although the line-up looked all in all solid, but as for the general arrangements of the event, the roadie and break time between each bands was occasionally quite insanely long. That definitely bugged some people off even though the beer was cold and metal ruled. But even though the festival is a small indoor one, if the people of the fest believes in the future of the fest, then we can expect to have another MOM event in the next year.
The Damnation Festival has a proud history of serving up quality metal to metalheads in the British Isles for quite a few years now. It has come from humble beginnings to currently span three indoor stages, and attracting big names in metal as well as breaking newer independent bands is its aim. Mille Petrozza of Kreator called it right, he said that “this isn’t a festival for scenes and trends”. Indeed, and with this year’s varied line-up, ranging from Carcass to My Dying Bride to Berserker to Sigh, there was something in it for everyone.
A night of old school thrash, with the re-formed veterans from Bristol, Onslaught touring in support of their recent album KILLING PEACE, and the German legends of thrash, Destruction – what more could you ask for? A night with glamour model Jordan and a lifetime supply of beer, but I digress…
Europe has tons of great metal festivals arranged almost in every country during the summer time. Of course bigger festivals such Graspop, SwedenRock, Wacken, FullForce, Gods Of Metal, Hellfest, MetalCamp and tons of others definitely draw bigger names and more attention. However there are a lot of smaller metal festival arranged as well. These smaller more underground oriented festivals are arranged with the passion and devotion toward the metal music despite the budgets of these festivals ain’t tremendous huge.
Jalometalli is a relative new, but damn activate and vital metal festival arranged up in the north in Oulu. The festival has grown piece by piece every year and booked more and more wellknown bands. Jalometalli definitely hit the jackpot by managing to book the legendary Bay Area thrashers Testament and of course another, but European thrash legends Kreator. However Jalometalli offers more legends such Unleashed, Candlemass and the mighty Holy Moses. What the one can wish from one metal small festival, doom metal, thrash metal, death metal. Of course Finnish metal bands play an important role giving the last shape to the line-up of the festival.
As for the tickets, well they can be ordered from the Finnish Ticket Service, Check out this link
The primusmotor and chief of the Jalometalli festival Marco Järvenpää is more thrilled about the line up of the Jalometalli festival 2007. Therefore it would be about time and to give an opportunity to the chief to enlighten more about the festival.
"I am so excited and can’t wait for everyone to hear the finished album. Thrash Metal will never be the same again. It’s time for Slayer to step aside. Our lyrical content is ugly and ‘will’ upset people. The music is so fucking brutal. Is that the same band who recorded IN SEARCH OF SANITY? A mix of POWER FROM HELL and THE FORCE, dragged screaming and thrashing into the 21st century. You have been warned!" – Sy Keeler on 25th of July 2006
Hmmm…. such brave words from such a bravely talking guy. Metal-Rules.com wanted to find out how much Sy?s announcement held water by testifying the band?s live appearance at the precious Jalometalli Festival in Oulu, Finland on August 18th. The band not only played a well-chosen cavalcade of old Onslaught classic songs at Jalometalli, but also threw a couple of new songs off from their forth-coming 4th album, titled KILLING PEACE (due to out in February 2007 on Candlelight Records) as teasers. According to these new songs they played for their Finnish fans, "Destroyer of the World" and the album?s title track "Killing Peace", it can somewhat fully be subscribed the time has come for Slayer to step aside – not matter how good Slayer?s latest album CHRIST ILLUSION was. KILLING PEACE will contain 9 new songs full of hard, heavy and fast Thrash Metal without any kind of compromises, the way we ?old timers? still remember Onslaught when Sy was screaming his lungs out in the classic Onslaught line-up.
Sy talks about the new album in this very interview for Metal-Rules.com – and just about much more…
Onslaught wasone of the first UK thrash/death outfits to unleash three mind blowing thrash metal outputs in the 80?s. The band?s second effort THE FORCE is considered their greatest album featuring the legendary Sy Keeler on the vocals. However due to several reasons Onslaught reached its final peak in the early 90?s when several other 80?s thrashers disappeared and split up at that time. In 2005 the reformation of Onslaught came out of blue to several old school thrash metal worshippers when the legendary UK thrashers from Bristol announced that they would perform some gigs and start working on new material. Therefore it was a ?must? to have an interview with the band?s drummer Steve Grice to find out more about the reformation and of course about the historical background of the band.
