Wacken Open Air 2015

September 29th, 2015

Wacken being sold out is a kind of mystery, for sure. The event is somehow sold out every year, but this year’s sell out wasn’t a surprise as Savatage with Trans Siberian Orchestra and Judas Priest were headliners. Thousands and thousands of metal fans from every corner of the world arrived at Wacken to have fun and enjoy metal. Instead the weather gods didn’t show much support towards the festival and all its visitors. The hard rains literally ruined the ground and soil of the festival area. The whole Wacken village and large area of fields became the ultimate mud war field. The weekend at Wacken was one hell of a surviving camp.

Despite the tremendous problems and brutal field of mud, the people still gathered to witness the return and resurrection of Savatage and the massive show from Trans Siberian Orchestra.

Picture the scene: a field in south Derbyshire. One moment, quaint and calm; serene, leafy and undisturbed.

But then, as the sun arises to the midday point one cloudless Thursday in august, thousands upon thousands of heavy metal fans swarmed forth out of the woodwork that is England 2015, to attend the twelfth official Bloodstock Festival (11th open air to be exact).

Swedenrock 2015 – Sölvesborg Sweden

July 11th, 2015

Sweden Rock 2015

The Finnish commando team made their annual road trip to Sweden Rock. has covered Sweden Rock since 2001. The  2015 line up presented a wide range of metal and hard rock. Over 70 bands offered one hell of an experience for the attendees during the four day festival. Sweden Rock has been successful during the past ten years always being sold out. This year wasn’t an exception as the fest was sold out despite the lousy economic situation worldwide. It has become quite logical for us to give an in depth article of several bands performing at Sweden Rock to all the readers out there. The  weather was tremendous, despite being quite windy and cold on the opening day. But we were there for bands, not for having some beach party crap. Unfortunately, we are not able to cover every bloody band, but hopefully you will have a pleasant reading experience… Rock on!

Nuclear Assault – John Connelly, Dan Lilker, Glenn Evans

July 4th, 2015

Nuclear Assault conquered the speed/thrash metal scene of the 80’s with a razor sharp sound with crossover elements. Nuclear Assault’s lyrics were based on the everyday reality that we are facing even nowadays. The band’s albums HANDLE WITH CARE, SURVIVE, and GAME OVER are the obvious thrash metal gems. Even though Nuclear Assault have been on hiatus from time to time, once again the four piece have returned with a new EP and a massive European festival tour. sat down with John Connelly, Glenn Evans and Dan Lilker to talk about various and interesting topics.

Dan Lilker – Nuclear Assault / Brutal Truth

October 23rd, 2008

It would be more than unexpected if some serious metalhead asked “who is Dan Lilker”, cos the man has been involved in the metal scene and in the catacombs of underground metal for several decades. Above all, Nuclear Assault are still remembered as pioneers of the NY thrash metal scene, with several killer albums from the 80’s. Dan has also carved a reputation as the long time bass player and founder of the extreme grind core act Brutal Truth which terrorized the underground extreme metal genre in the 90’s until they went on a long hiatus. After being on a hold for years Brutal Truth has returned to bring their extreme music to extreme people again. The band visited Helsinki some time ago and we got the great opportunity to chat with Dan about his various bands, but above all about Brutal Truth, Nuclear Assault and even going back to the very early days of Anthrax.

Nuclear Assault
Interview by Keith McDonald

Nuclear Assault has been on the road since 2002 with the reformed band. They released a live record to hold the fans down until a new studio album is ready. While the band was in the New York area I had an opportunity to speak with Danny Lilker who gave me the lowdown on the band and it?s future plans.
