Guitarist Henny Wolter, recently dropped the bombshell that he had quit Primal Fear. In a blog posting earlier this week he said “it didn’t feel like a band anymore.”  Metal-Rules.com caught up with Henny to get an elaboration and to get a little more detail on his new band, Nitrogods.

On the topic of leaving Primal Fear Henny said: “I am kind of bummed myself, because I liked the musical side of it. But unfortunately that was pushed aside by too many other annoying things. As much as I appreciate playing to a larger audience and recording and working on a pretty high professional level, I am not willing to put up with the way they run their business anymore. Most people and fans know, and it is rather obvious that PF is a 2 man enterprise. I even guess there´s nothing wrong with that for some people and I certainly knew what I was in for when I got into it the second time. But lately it´s gotten to a point at which I don´t wanna serve as a writer and performer no more. I have always been a band-guy and that´s the way I like to work. It used to be that way in my former bands like Thunderhead and I really missed that in PF.

Henny is not playing with the band on their upcoming tour dates that start in a few days commenting “No. I won´t be playing for them anymore at all.

Henny is also no longer in Sinner. Speculation is that he no longer saw eye to eye with band leader Mat Sinner to which Henny commented “I am not too keen on having to deal with Mat and probably vice versa :)“.

With the announcement of his departure from Primal Fear, Henny announced the formation of a new band Nitrogods. He further commented that “Nitrogods is a three-piece and it will be much more Rock´n Roll than PF. Rather in the vein of Thunderhead or early (Eddie Clark, Philthy Taylor era) Motörhead.

Hope to see all my fans and friends on tour soon.
