GOTHENBURG, SWEDEN – Greek/Swedish melodic death metal band, Nightrage, has teamed up with Revolver Magazine to launch a music video for the new track “Stare into Infinity” at: http://www.revolvermag.com/?p= 72650. The song comes from the band’s upcoming sixth studio album, The Puritan, set to release on April 24 through Despotz Records.
“‘Stare into Infinity’ is one of my favorite songs on our new album The Puritan,” guitarist Marios Iliopoulos told Revolver. “It has all those elements that are Nightrage – heavy riffs, emotional melodies and brutal vocal hooks. The whole arrangement of the song is very simplistic and in your face. The verses are very thrashy with straightforward riffs and pounding drums, creating that feeling of power and metal mayhem. The chorus is where the song really lifts up with those signature Nightrage melodic guitars and big ’80s metal riffs played with a thrashy and more modern approach. And Ronnie´s vocals, singing with such a great passion and old school melodic death metal vibes, makes for a really cool contrast on that part.
“Lyrically, it´s a song that has to do with leading you out of dark times, reaching the light at the end of the tunnel and leaving everything that’s troubling you behind – searching to find your inner self.
“The production and sound that Daniel Bergstrand and George Neranzis did for the song made all the difference in the world; they really gave the song the needed power and loudness to create such a strong and beautifully loud brutal/melodic sound.”
Due to scheduling conflicts, Antony (vocals) will be unable to perform with multinational thrashers NIGHTRAGE at the Gothenburg Sound Festival on January 5 in Gothenburg, Sweden. His replacement for this show only will be NIGHTRAGE;s former frontman Tomas Lindberg from AT THE GATES. NIGHTRAGE states: “We are super-excited about this!”
Comments Antony, “as some of you may already know, the band has been selected to play the Gothenburg Sound Festival in January. Unfortunately, due to some scheduling conflicts I was unable to resolve, I will have to miss this show. It will be the first NIGHTRAGE show in six years that I will miss and it completely sucks!
This festival’s lineup is of legendary proportions (CEREMONIAL OATH, GARDENIAN). But fear not, I am proud to announce that we are going to just tack one more to that list of legends for our friends and fans in Sweden. That’s right, the one and only Tomas Lindberg will be helping us for this one-off show. And it’s safe to say I am jealous as fuck not to see this take place. I have also seen the setlist for this show, and let me tell you, no one will be disappointed.”
Lindberg, who is also known for his work with THE CROWN and LOCK UP, appeared on NIGHTRAGE’s first two albums (2003 – Sweet Vengeance and 2005 – Descent Into Chaos) before being replaced by Jimmie Strimell, who sang on 2007’s A New Disease Is Born.
NIGHTRAGE’s fifth album, Insidious, was released in September 2011 via Lifeforce Records. The CD featured guest appearances by Gus G. (OZZY OSBOURNE, FIREWIND), Tomas S. Englund (EVERGREY), Apollo Papathanasio (FIREWIND, SPIRITUAL BEGGARS), John K (BIOMECHANICAL) and Tomas Lindberg.

Newly formed female fronted metal band AFTERBLOOD from Athens, Greece, has completed the production of its debut album, tentatively titled “Of Unsound Minds”. The album, which was recorded at Dungeon Studios in Athens, was produced by Waldermar Sorychta (GRIP INC, ENEMY OF THE SUN) and AFTERBLOOD and was mastered by Dennis Koehne (LACUNA COIL, MOONSPELL, SAMAEL, TIAMAT etc) at Germany’s Flying Pigs Studio. It features SODOM’s Markus “Makka” Freiwald on drums (recorded at Dortmund’s Waldstreet Sound) throughout the entire album, as well as guest appearances by legendary thrash metal singer Tom Angelripper (SODOM) on the song “Mission of Aggression”; singer Antony Hamalainen (NIGHTRAGE) on the song “The More I Lie” and a guitar solo by Waldemar Sorychta on the song “Beyond”. The complete tracklist of “Of Unsound Minds” as well as the artwork will be revealed soon.
Waldemar Sorychta described the sound of AFTERBLOOD as: “The perfect mix of aggression and darkness!”
A release date for the album remains to be determined as the band is currently considering record label offers. The band recently signed with independent band manager and former MTV Greece “Headbangers Ball” host Orpheus Spiliotopoulos (SCAR OF THE SUN, DISHARMONY, SIC).

WEARING A MARTYR’S CROWN is the name of the amazing fourth album from Nightrage. I have interviewed bandleader Marios Iliopoulos before but when I heard that he and Nightrage were back I felt that it was time for an update. So for all you Nightrage fans out there here comes an update from the Nightrage camp by Marios, singer Anthony Hämäläinen and drummer Jo Nunez.

I hooked up with bandleader and master maniac Marios of the Swedish-Greek act Nightrage who just released their third album. The band has gone through a few member changes as well as label changes and on the new album it’s once again a new line-up.
Vader BloodThorn & Nightrage The 24th of November 2006 NightLife Rock, Helsinki, Finland
The coverage of obscure underground death metal gigs continues in Metal-Rules.com. Previous reviews have covered gigs of both Grave and Dismember when these bands played in obscure places in front of small, but enthusiastic audiences on their small tour thru Finland.
Vader had toured in Finland a couple of years ago gaining a solid and strong reputation as being a tight and merciless live act on stage. The band had guaranteed to deliver a lesson in the purest death metal mayhem for several extreme metal maniacs on their last tour. Therefore Vader’s return to the soil of Finland was definitely welcomed.
Here is an interview that I?ve done with Marios from the band Nightrage. Nightrage have recently released their second album on Century Media and I asked him, of course, about the new album, about the member changes, about tour plans and what?s going to happen to Nightrage in the future.

Gus G., guitar player and leader of Firewind, who recently released their third album FORGED BY FIRE had the kindness to answer my questions about Firewind, their new album, his appearances in Nightrage, and his previous band Dream Evil. Nightrage is about to release their follow up to their brilliant debut “SWEET VENGEANCE”.
